Anyone heard of this product Lean System 7? I am presently trying this to help me with my last 5 lbs which for over a year won't come off. I am hypothyroid on Synthroid. My blood levels are ok . I eat more, less , more protein , drink tons of water work out with weights and cardio 4 times a week. I have tried everything known to man but can't bust this plateau? I have been on this product for 2 months and nothing. I eat from 1500 to 1800 cals per day. I am five foot two and 128 lbs. Two years ago I was down to 121 and stayed there till I broke my foot. Then I gained to 132 and lost till 128 where I have been for over a year. I am 49, post menopausal with hypothyroid. Maybe I am not being realistic....

Hopefully someone with more expertise with hypothyoidism will pipe up about that one. You mentioned how much you eat but not how often. Assuming you're up on your nutrition info, something you might try is play with your meal frequency and volume. If you're eating twice a day, spread it out to 4 or more times a day. You might find you can eat the same (or more) calories a day but by keeping your metabolism beefed up those few pounds might go away. Fill out your profile and it'll be easier to answer better. Luck to you.

I am new to this site so I am not sure how to post my profile yet. I eat six times a day. I have been reading and reading for 2 years on nutriton and fitness and have not found an answer that will work for my plateau. Thing is I lost 25 lbs three years ago doing weight watchers and not being as vigilant as I am now towards nutrition. Something about my foot injury (i was on crutches for 5 months) shocked my system I think and being hypothyroid gives you the devil of a time losing weight. It took me 9 months to lose 25 lbs. NOw since the injury no matter what I do I am stuck at 128. I am not obese by any means but have this thin layer of fat covering all the lovely muscles I have earned when training.

You say you eat 1500 to 1800 cal. per day. OK, assuming this is the right amount of calories for you(sounds like you are at a maintenance level if nothing has changed for as long as you say), something needs to change. Either your energy expenditure (more intensity in exercise), or your calorie consumption. What are the ratios of the calories you are eating? P/C/F? And your diet needs to be steady to make the necessary changes. Not around 1500-1800 cal., but 1500 each day or 1800 each day. Then adjust your ratios. YOu can be eating for example an ultra low calorie diet, but if the ratios of macronutrients are wrong, you still may not lose anything due to metabolism slow down. The body is a very adept machine, adapts to things very quickly.-------------- As far as genetics go, the skies the limit. You are limited only by your mental perception of it. Ron |

Thanks for taking your time with me. Here is my menu yesterday.
Breakfast Optimum cereal with 1/2 cup 1% milk am snack handful of nuts and dried fruits. L one cup whole wheat pasta with shrimp and sauce made with cottage cheese and milk.lowfat, salad with 2 tbsp low fat dressing, yougurt made with aspertame PM snack 1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese with cinamon supper 3 oz broiled salmon, sweet potato, veggie (fiddleheads) 1 tbsp margerine on potato, low fat pudding late eve snack handful of mix nuts. tons of water to drink. I work out to failure have a program from a trainer which I change every six weeks. People have told me to change up my calories, some people like you said stay the same. I have tried both approachs and nothing. Many people say that I am at a set point given my medical status and age especially with the thyroid business. On weekends for breafast I make egg white omlets. I have no time to cook during the week. I always feel energetic and good unless I am having a neurological attack which I get 2-3 times a year. I take meds for that and they make me hungry all the time. I never feel satied for long no matter what or how much I eat. I just ignore that fact of life for me. |

Well, first off in my post to you I did not in any way imply for you to stay the same. Quite the opposite. I stated something needs to change. Well, if your training regimine is as you say, then it seems not too bad. Your diet, which was my initial suspicion is not up to par. You eat just 3 meals per day, with two snacks. You need to eat 5-6 meals, rich in protein, and keep your carbs fibrous in nature, also with each meal. I know it sounds weird eating what sounds like more food, but diet plays a huge part, the only other part in metabolism regulation. Protein rich foods actually can cause thermogenesis in your system, a process of increasing bodyheat thus caloric usage. Hope this makes sense to you. -------------- As far as genetics go, the skies the limit. You are limited only by your mental perception of it. Ron |

It makes total sense to me, and I have decided it is my diet that is my problem. I have been weighed and measured twice, first time I lost 7 lbs body fat, gained 12 lbs muscle, the last time I lost 3 lbs body fat, and gain 4 lbs muscle. I have been REALLY working out for the last 8 weeks and have not lost a pound. My trainer just changed by workout this week to full body 3 sets 25 reps with only 30 seconds rest in between for 1 hour. He is hoping this will help, but we have been discussing my diet also, and I think I am not eating enough food. I only had 991 cals before my supper the other night!!-------------- Gramma |
