Trying to become more explosive I want to incorporate Olympic style lifts into my training....
My question is how do I learn the complicated form/technique for the Snatch, Cleanr&Jerk, High Pull, and so forth?
If anyone knows helpful techniques...maybe in breaking down the movements...please respond...

You can find descriptions on Exrx.net. I've read the descriptions on all kinds of different websites, but I still have trouble doing it correctly. A LOT of trouble actually. It just takes a lot of practice. The thing that's hardest for me is trying to use your legs for cleans. I tend to try to throw the weight up and stuff, it just takes a lot of practice.

Amen to that....I have reincorperated them into my lifts again, haven't done them since highschool. Thing is don't let your ago lead the way. let it do what its soposed to do, help you explode...I don't worry about weight, i do about 135-175....3 times or so. However i'm still nto droping low enough(abotu 45degrees) I shoudl be atleast parellal, and i'm gonn akeep doing this weight range, tell I start droping to parellal. Which is my goal.

I am doing it to improve my other lifts, learn to use all my muscles in unison explosively, and help with vertical/explosiveness for basketball/football

Olympic lifts are great for developing vertical jumps, first step quickness, and overall explosive power. Plus they condition tendons, ligaments, and muscle tissue to handle quick, explosive movements which means they reduce the risk of injury. If you are truely interested in learning them properly then go to a USAW clinic. The website it:

Check out coaches calendar, find a clinic close to you go with a beginners mind.

Gator I genuinely want to learn it....however, like many students I am cash strapped.....I work 30 hours as a full time student just barely to pay my monthly tuition and personal expenses....how much does the program usually cost?
I also didn't see Bay Area/San Francisco as a place where they are coming....out of past experience...do they usually come to this area?

is there any other way to learn the movements without going to the clinic? maybe break down the movements and train each part separately until I get the technique down of each part?

Find a coach in the area that has some experiance. At your gym, school, expo or clinic, you can usually find someone to help you. Form rules in the world of olympic lifting. Technique is key if you ever want to achieve anything through these lifts. I was fortunate enough to have World Record Holder Jeff Sellers as a coach, someone who was a USWF Certified Coach to teach me proper form. Without his expertise, I never would have seen the gains I have in my powerclean.
