I leave for basic training in 34 days. The problem is that I can not be over my max weight, even by one pound. I need to shed 10 pounds. I have been working out all summer, and run everyday but have not lost 1 lb. Should i quit lifting weights or increase my mileage. Right now i run about 6 miles a day. Any suggestions?

You can go to bootcamp over your max. The recruiters just try to scare you so that they don't look bad. Bootcamp will take the weight off of you.

As long as you can sing that "Halls of Montazoomer" song with a bucket on your head you'll be fine. Oh and take bug spray.

What hec says is correct. Many of my co-workers didn't meet the weight requirements coming in. I have to get a bodyfat % done for PRT's due to my weight. I'm not at all fat, but muscle weights more. Keep that in mind as you may not be overweight in bf %. Good luck!

Congrats!
You will do fine. Sounds like you are in good shape already so boot camp won't be so hard.
God bless you.

Also, while in boot, they have "special" programs for those who are very overweight.

If you are serious about losing a little weight now, maybe your problem is in your diet and not your workout.

This may sound dumb, but try reducing your carb intake. When you get to bootcamp over weight you will spend about a week in processing (P-days) then you will be move to PCP (physical conditioning platoon) or will be a fat body diet private. In each case you will be restricted on what you can eat. In short, nothing white, no desserts (except jello, which is always sugar free), all the salad you can eat,but only 3 packets of french dressing, no milk or juice, and all the water you can drink. At least that is how it was done when I was a diet private in 1986 and from what some of my son's friends have told me, it has not changed much.
