I have seen people go high, low, narrow, wide, etc. on leg press. My question is which foot placements work different muscles, and which is "best"? I usually go low and about shoulder width apart.

high focuses more on hams, low more on quads, wide on inside of thigh (if i remember they are called adductors) and narrow on outer thigh

when I did leg press, I put my feet higher on the plate......so it hit my hammies and butt more...or "crab" style.......feet wide like a crab..

Don't do what I did, put your feet up high and save your knees. I sure wish I did.

So if I do squats first, then straight leg DL then leg press should I still go higher and focus on hams?

You are on top of things bropie!
to hit that quad sweep we all want, put your feet low and close on the pad. You will more than likely have to drop weight. High and wide will hit the hams and glutes more.
