I was just wondering if anyone out there knew of any good supplements that would keep me from getting so sore after working out so hard on my leg days. This past week I lift 60 to 70 % of my max on Squats and Calve raises and I am definetly feeling it... My Calves are the sorest, I can barely walk now.. Haha.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

K1972, Had the same thing happen to me last week, I don't really know of any good supplements to help alleviate the soreness but I do know was your muscles become used to heavy training you don't get as sore. I think the best way to help with the soreness is rest now that your sore, stretching daily especially before and after a workout, and a good warm up.

I believe the soreness is due to lactic acid. Try taking tums before your workout. My friend does that and he says he doesn't get the feeling of wanting to puke during his leg workouts anymore and he's not as sore later.

Thanks guys for the info. I guess I should work more reps with lighter weights until my legs get use to it. I have not worked my legs out for almost 4 days now do to the intense soreness I have . LOL.... I will lift with legs again on Thursday, that should give me plenty of rest time to recoop. Again thanks for the info.

Yes...timbaland is right it is due to lactic acid buildup....if it is your first time doing squats then most definitely you will feel sore and you may feel like that for the better part of a week(welcome to weight lifting) so how does one elliviate sorness, and the answer is recouperation. Visit a massage therapist, it will help work out the lactic acid...go on a jog, get the blood flowing so it gets flushed out, stretching will also help....up the h2o so your body can more efficiently rid the body of all the"bad stuff". The next time you lift, you will be amazed that the soreness just goes away a little quicker...and after a while you really have to hit it hard in order to get that feeling.

Hehe. The first time I did a really heavy leg workout I could hardly walk for a week. And the next time I did, it was nearly the same thing. But I kept doing in my routine and my legs finally got used to being trained and the soreness wasn't so bad.
I think this goes with any muscle group. If you don't train an area much, then put it into your routine, its going to be sore for the first few times. I would suggest you keep doing the weight your using. It won't be too long until your legs get used to it.

During my training cert, I was told that L-Glutamine helps in reducing the amount of lactice acid in the muscles thus reducing soreness. You may want to try supplementing with L-Glutamine. It has helped reduce the amount of soreness I get when I workout.
