I'm doing my weights in the morning now at 6am. Because of my schedule the earliest i get to bed is 9, so i don't want to wake up before 5. There will be about 45 minutes between the time i eat and start working out. What should i eat before going to the gym? I'm guessing a liquid meal replacement, and if so, any suggestions?

In your case because of the need for some very quick nutrients a "liquid meal" will be your best bet. You are correct in your assumption. Myoplex or something like it would be probably best here, as it has some maltodextrin in it, and just waking up from a fast, may help nip cortisol while at the same time giving you a quicker digesting carb for quicker energy needs.

whole wheat/rye toast with jelly+coffe/tea, protein shake, banana, bagel.....might be good preworkout meal...

I think eggs with rice or potatoes might be a better choice after a workout...

Hhhmmmm....I thought by reading his post that the main concern was TIME! (not having any to cook)

well, eggs you can cook night before....ditto potatoes for example...or 2 minutes rice......

bananas you can eat like a few in a minute
ditto bagel...
ditto shake.....
toast with jelly also takes lil time to make....or eat

dunno....maybe I am misunderstanding something but what exactly do u mean fast to make?.....you can make any of those things while taking a shower in the morning...

MRP? protein shake? protein bar?

what time frame are we talking about?......

He clearly states 45 minutes. A liquid meal in this case would be the fastest absorbing thus being able to utilize it.

Why do people have to be so objective just to get the last word. I can't see a problem with the protoplex its a good easy obtion. For any one who can't get access to that 4 raw eggs (2yolks 4 whites) and some juice would do the trick. baegles, banas and bread may linger a bit in the system and wouldn't be optimal.

The reason I am being so "objective" is replying adequately to a post, not just to make a post.

When replying to a post, maybe reading it would be a good idea.

And yeah, 4 raw eggs would be a great idea(if salmonella is an option for you)

I wasn't on about you. I said your answer was fine I just couldn't see why other people have to a chip in when the answer you gave was sufficiant.

Here it? I just think that the comment that "they check for that" is ridculous as the only way to test for it is to either kill the chicken or break the egg. ANd if they do find it hoe pray tell do they make it Safe?

Ironmonga,
Why do you have to always have to put judgement upon what members post? Let me criticize you!15 eggs a day? I would suggest you invest your money in a spelling course rather than the eggs.
Good luck to you.

PS. Maybe those eggs have CATIONS!

Ironmonga I can see your point...the reason for other posts(or at least my own) is to just give more options to the person....the benefit of online community is that you get to hear a variety of ideas....I misunderstood the post originally a bit so my answer was a bit off....Liquid meals are as bb1 rightly pointed out the absolute fastest way to absorb the calories being intaken

.....I personally like to eat a light meal rather than drink a protein shake before workouts...when i got 45 minutes....but it's ofcourse less than fastest way to make use of the calories ingested....

I am a little surprised this post grew to so much commotion...my apologies if I came off wrong...

You have nothing to apologise for menace its me...I seem to have this knack for rubbing people up the wrong way although I realy don't mean to. Carivan it seems from your last few posts to me that you have taken a distinct diss liking to me so I can only think that I have pissed you off in some way as you seem to be a nice bloke to most people so what ever it was, I'm sorry.
