which is best to work the muscles lift heavy for low reps or lift a heavy weight that u can do 12 reps with ?

well it depends on your goals, but do it one way for awhile then change it up and do it the other way.

You should be able to lift a weight that allows you to do ALL the reps with full control and perfect form, the last 3 reps should be the most difficult.
