I figured it wouldn't hurt to condense this from the hunt-n-peck, one-supplement-per-post discussion into what we use, how much, and what we believe the benefits are. Please include those that you've tried that DIDN'T work so we can maybe avoid some rif raf.

I, for one, will list my favorite/percieved most effective first down to the loser supplements later. This should be interesting.

1. NitroTech, by MuscleTech.
I take two shakes per day when I can afford the stuff, putting nothing in them extra. I use two scoops and one cup of skim milk. That gives me 48g of protein and only costs 300 calories. I've noticed gains and plateau breakthroughs when I'm taking NitroTech, prolly cuz it has glutamine and creatine in it as well as the protein mix, more on those later.

2. Daily Vitamin, One-A-Day, Men's Formula
I just figure it's doing it's job. All the medical references I can find say it is...this may not be something you can really notice any more than you can notice how your health would be if you forgot to wake up everyday. This one, in my case, is favored because of medical advice from respectable sources.

3. L-Glutamine (Natures Best?)
When I'm taking NitroTech, I do NOT take my one a day vitamin or extra L-glutamine or creatine, cuz it's all in there. But when I can't afford NitroTech, I take my L-Glutamine tablets in 1000 mg doses, once a day. It speeds healing, and I can feel it. I can do things the day and days following a workout that I couldn't before.

4. Creatine, micronized by NOW
I'm not faithful to this brand, but the tub has lasted me forever so I haven't tried others (except EAS while on a trip out of state) and I don't know if brand name much matters. It makes you stronger, period. If you could do 10 reps of a weight w/o it, maybe you can do 13 with it. It dehydrates, though, so drink much water. Again, I do NOT take this when I'm taking NitroTech, it's already in there. I take 5g per dose, or 1 Tbsp.

5. Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc combo tabs (generic)
I've read scores of good things about this combination, and since I started it I've noticed more strength and energy. The tabs have 1000mg Calcium, 400mg of Magnesium, and 15mg of Zinc, exactly 100% of the RDA for all....(of course you're going over through other sources).

6. Glucosamine Chondriotin, generic
I have an arthritic knee and some low back problems so I figured I'd try this out. Been taking the 2.7g pill for about two months, and I'm noticing more flexibility and less pain in my knee and back. Frankly, I think it's making me feel more flexible all around.

7. Chromium Picolinate
I don't know if this is good or not, supposed to help with weight...I've been on it for a few weeks and haven't really noticed anything.

8. Xenadrine EFX
Doesn't work.

9. Metabolite for men
Works but has ephedra.

I guess there is more, but I'm tired :D

1. AST Multi Pro-32X
So much easier to swallow and seems to last longer in your stomach compared to GNC Mega Men.

2. AST GL3 Micronized L-Glutamine
Great stuff. I bought myself a great gift for working hard. I love how pure and fine the glutamine is. A great spoonful of dried glutamine... yum. Don't know how well it's working yet because I'm on my first week, more like third day.

3. AST VP2 Whey Protein
Haven't tried it yet and am staring at the sealed bottle as I type. Waiting to finish off my optimum nutrition bottle before I undulge in this beauty.

There's no more and I'm tired also =)

I did forget Cytodyne ZMA, and sometimes immediately post training I use AST VP2 Whey, switch off with Provider only pre and post training stacked with Mass Maker.

Interesting to see what everyone is doing. I'm not sure if I am taking the right things or exactly what they all do, but here goes:

1) 4 scoops Optimum 100% Whey Protein. 2 scoops in AM with fat free milk and either blueberries or strawberries and 2 scoops in PM with water. Well, it's protein and has lot's of vitamins/minerals/amino acids, which are all good.

2) Women's Multi-vitamin. Has all the vitamins/minerals my body needs, plus some herbs that I have no clue what they do. :p

3) B-Complex Vitamin for healthy nervous system, hair, nails, etc. :)

4) Vitamin C. Pretty much good for everything.

5) Vitamin E. For healthy hair, nails, skin, etc.

6) Acidophilius (sp?) for healthy intestinal flora.

7) Flax Seed Oil tablet for omega3.

These are mixed with a meal plan I developed with help from Ivan and Ron.

What’s the reason for this increase? Carbohydrates. The old thinking was that FAT made us fat. So, we all began eating fat free (but high carbohydrate) foods. The result? We got 30% fatter! High carbohydrate foods such as Potatoes, rice, pasta and bread cause your body to store more of what you eat as fat.

1 TaeBo Select MSM also contains White Willow Bark for maximum pain relief.MSM supports joint and cartilage structure, joint flexibility and movement

2 Anyone needing extra protein, nutrients and energy WITHOUT THE SUGAR.TaeBo Select CARB-LO Bars.

3 CARB-LO contains the patented ingredient GLUCOSOL that has been clinically proven to stabilize blood sugar, which is the key to low carb weight loss.

In no particular order, and this was basically through most of my training (Universal Nutrition products):

1) Milk and Egg protein (various times througout the day)
2) Whey Protein (post workout)
3) Animal Pak (once in the morning; once before workout)
4) Glutamine (before and after workout, at the least)
5) Creapure Creatine (same as glutamine)
6) Liver Tabs (6 with every meal)
7) Amino Acids (6 with every meal)
8) Carbohydrates (various times, including pre and post workout)

I had tried (and liked) in the past several Prolab products, but their quality went totally south (in my opinion) after Rexall took them over.

They take cattle liver, remove the water, fat, and connective tissue, and then flash freeze it and make tablets.

Liver is very high (80 percent by weight) in first class utilizable protein, and from a supplemental standpoint, one of the most efficient forms. They’re great because they are a whole food. Unlike processed protein powders and other supplements, liver has a ton of naturally occurring nutritional benefits. This includes amino acids, nucleic acids, the entire B complex, Co Q 10, selenium, phosphorous, copper, zinc, Vitamins A, C, D, K, and E, cobalt, molybdenum, magnesium, manganese, potassium, calcium, GTF chromium, BCAAs, heme iron and cytochrome p-450.

Yum!

That is what Ultra 40 is in my stack. Liver is a first class source of utilizable bodybuilding protein. It is high quality protein and amino acids. Full of blood building iron and B-vitamins. And if I kept listing I would mimic Rev's post. I use them to improve the nutritional profile of every meal I eat along with amino acids. They also help increase energy flow on a calorie restricted diet and boost strength and help battle stress. A plethora of benefits. They kind of fell out of favor, cannot use sexy models to sell them, and many companies started putting out anything with a caramel coating calling it liver. It went from a must have supplement to these don't work anymore. But they do, the job is finding your quality.

You're right, Ron. I only know of 2 companies left that actually carry legimate liver tabs.
