Know what you mean B.A. For a while I was just looking forward to a first round first pick in the draft. Now things are different. All we have to do is win the next 5 games and the wild card to get back to the NFC Championship. Then it's off to the superbowl. Simple huh?-------------- I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol Charlie | |

The NFC is extremely weak 8-8 may get some teams in there so i think your panthers got a shot even if they can win 4 out of 5.

I may sound weird asking this... but can some one explain the rankings and junk and how it works? Liek how the wild cards are picked, what determines if a team is 8-8 get is over team that 7-9 and so forth, or how in the beginning you can loose 4 5 games, and win the rest and still go to the superbowl? What makes one game more important than the other?.......never had someone explain it to me??-------------- The following, has not be approved by the FDA or FT, it was not meant to diagnose, treat,or prevent any diease(s) Please consult a moderator or doctor before using any of the suggestions or comments. |

in the nfl playoff system, the team that finishes 1st in each division gets an automatic playoff berth. thus, the first 6 seeds. see below:
afc east winner afc central winner afc west winner nfc east winner (go eagles) nfc central winner nfc west winner 2 wild card teams are selected from each conference based on team records. in the event of 2 teams having the same record, a series of tie-breakers (i.e. head-to-head performance, points allowed, etc.) are used to determine which team will get the playoff spot. thus, the final 4 playoff teams are chosen: afc non-division champion with best record afc non-division champion with second-best record nfc non-division champion with best record nfc non-division champion with second-best record the 2 teams with the best records in each conference will recieve 1st round playoff byes, while the other pairings will be made based on best/worst record matchups. a team that is 7-9 would not make the playoffs over an 8-8 team in the same conference. however, the nfc could quite possibly send a 6-10 team to the playoffs while the lowest-seeded afc team could be 9-7. does that make sense? -------------- i wish you ill, ice-t. margarine is a liar who announces, "i am butter!" |

yes, you're right, where i got confused was the division realignment. i keep thinking that there are still only three divisions, and looking at the 2 wild cards i was like, where's the 6th seed? i'm still thinking in the 3-division nfl era.-------------- i wish you ill, ice-t. margarine is a liar who announces, "i am butter!" |

you're right hec, he did step up last year in the playoffs. what i have a problem with is him stopping in the middle of a pattern because he knows he's about to get hit. he's gotta get over that, especially with t.o. out for the rest of the season.-------------- i wish you ill, ice-t. margarine is a liar who announces, "i am butter!" |

T.O. has 14 td catches this year all of the other eagle recievers combined have 1 touchdown. Mitchel has 14 catches and Pinkston with 37 catches is not exactly giving mcnabb confidence to throw it to him. and apperently T.O. is out indefinitely. Philly hopes of finally reaching the big one has just been flushed down the toilette, sorry but without T.O. there is no real threat thru the air oh yeah TO had 77 cathes this year more than mitchel and pinkston combined.

So what powerhouse from the NFC is going to beat us? We still have the best quarterback in the NFC and we have Brian Westbrook who is a playmaker in his own right. Like I said, I am not going to give up on our season because we lost one player. The fact of the matter is that one player cannot win you a championship, it is a team effort.-------------- I am from Philadelphia, for all the people who keep posting the infamous where are you from thread. |

The Panthers have played the whole season with less than half of their starting roster. We're playing our 6th string running back. Stick by your guns hec. Though I agree that T.O. has been a driving force this year and that the team will have to adjust and concentrate their efforts elsewhere...it DOES NOT mean we are down the toilet at all. We've gotten this far before without him....not to mention that we've gotten to this point this year with our whole damn defensive line down and countless other injuries. Hector is right, it is a team effort. T.O. may have golden hands, but they are no more golden that McNabb's arm or Westbrook's feet. The way I see it, we are still a threat. -------------- Julienne A morning without coffee is like something without something else. |

I Will admit the NFC just plain sucks and no wild card team will make it far in the playoffs. I do give props to the panthers they have endured alot and almost squeaked into the playoffs. Lets face it philly has been plagued year after year with big injuries prior to the playoffs last year was westbrook this year TO. to people who were intricate parts of their success. You can't tell me that someone on the team isn't going "here we go again" and i will bet you that there has been some doubt cast upon some of the team memebers on whether they can do it without TO. Atleast last year they had Thrash but he's not there anymore. Half the poeple probably didn't even know the other recievers on the eagles team besides TO. I think that Green Bay is gonna be the team to knock off the eagles this year, i know philly blew them out a few weeks ago but the eagles have taken a major physical and mental blow with TO being out. I'm just saying that the odds of philly reaching the superbowl have dropped significantly with TO's injury. I agree it is a team effort and philly does have one tough "D" so it should be an interesting playoff run.

Green Bay's defense is horrible. You cannot make it to a superbowl without at least a solid defense. Atlanta is the team that scares me the most and their offense is putrid. I still think that the Eagles are the favorite to make it to the superbowl in the NFC. Once they get there it would be hard to win without TO, but we will see how it plays out. All I am saying is that I am not throwing in the towel just because one player is hurt. -------------- I am from Philadelphia, for all the people who keep posting the infamous where are you from thread. |

In the very same week I find myself pulling for the Eagles and Falcons. They win, we are clear to the playoffs with a win over NO. Who shows up? The F***ing JV teams. Eagles and Falcons, die with festering boils. This sucks. Now we not only have to win. Dis one gotta lose, dat one gotta win. I'm rootin for your panthers, i really wanna see them get in, i think there are some teams that won't want to see them in the playoffs, they are very underated due to injuries but what they've done is just amazing. they'd be the first team to start 1-7 and get into the playoffs if everything falls into place for them. Oh yeah how 'bout them stilers?...14-1 baby
