Hi, Im 28 yours old and just starting weight training again after a many years. I weight trained and practiced karate most of my teenage year and never seen much weight gain. Probably because I spent most of my time working fast-stitch muscles mostly for speed and endurance. I was a small build at 5'8" and 145lb; this weight would not budge, no matter hard I tried, it wouldn’t drop not rise. I joined the Marine Corps at 19 and seen some gain from the training there, but the most I gained was 5-7lbs. I tried mass training for a short time while I was enlisted, but found it very difficult to gain mass with the long 3-6 mile runs every other day. I’m out of the marines now and weight around 155-160lb . I was just wondering, if any professionals out there can help with some advice. Do you think I can gain now that Im older and don’t have to worry about all the cardio training anymore?

You can gain even if you are 50!!!! Don't worry i am sure that if you weight train for a couple of months you will see the results. Sign up for an nutrition and exercise FT program!!! Good luck and by the way WELCOME to the site!!!

Yes you can gain. You will have to look at your diet too though. Not just your workouts. But try what ioioio says and check out the programs here. There is one for gaining mass. And then use the nutrition one to give you a basic breakdown of your caloric needs. You should probably be getting in between 160-250g protein a day. Good luck.
