I already have pretty small boobs to begin with and I heard that working out your chest and losing weight can make them flatter. I also heard that working your chest can make them appear bigger... which is correct? I know the boobs are made of fat, so it would make sense that they would shrink with a lot of working out. help before I look like a boy!

If you lose fat, you will lose breast size. Breasts are comprised of mostly fatty tissue, stands to reason you will lose breast size. The underlying muscle will however become larger.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

different people lose weight from different areas first - so for some women, their breasts may be the first area that they lose fat from when they lose weight, others may find they lose weight from their hips or abdomen first.
Unfortunately there is only one way to find out. :) good luck with your goals |

I guess I personally feel that boobs are secondary to being physically fit, it is a bummer that to become one you may lose some of the other, but to look and feel good ALL over would be the ultimate satisfaction. I think there is just much more to a woman than boobs and we need to keep focused on that.

What has happened with me is that I have lost very little fat from my breasts but my pecs are really turning out very nice. I have more cleavage now than I did before, but that is from the muscle giving that area a much nicer appearance.
At my weight 113lbs I could potentially lose a lot of fat from my breasts but that just hasn't been the case for me. But then I am also not lifting heavy weights yet, I am just now able to benchpress 40lbs so you know I am still pretty weak. Leslie |

When i lost a lot of weight. I was like 95 pounds and I know that's not healthy! I had really really small boobs. They hardly fit into an A cup, but when I started gaining, they were the first things that came back. So, now I'm like in a C so that's cool. Just don't try to lose too much weight and think you'll do fine.

To lose weight...you need to reduce calories and/or start doing cardio...
as already mentioned where you lose the fat first or last depends on your genetics...adn you won't know until you begin the changes... The muscles in your chest won't make your breasts larger...it might help to slightly lift them up...but it's nothing dramatic...

im kinda new and all of this just made me :(
i used to be kinda curvy but during the last 1.5 years i've suddenly gained a lot ... (candies and alcohol this summer mainly)...n my curves r completely ruined.. my breats n bum is the same...i've only gained in my tummyy(fricking 4.5"!!!) and thigh..and slightly on arms and face.... from 37-25.5-37 ..and now frickin 37-30-37..tho it doesnt look that big but it is! :'( my pal said u lose frm the place you gained last(so that'd be the tummy and thigh to go first)is it true..? cuz ive read some stuff here but it says it depends on genes only..... do i stand a chance of being flat fronted/backed forever after all the cardio n weights.. :surprised::( eeep! HALP! |

Generally speaking the place where you're likeliest to store fat...which for you appears to be the abdomen is probably going to be the place where you will start to lose fat first....For most women with curves I would guess breasts are one of the last places where they will start to lose significant fat.....for most women it's usually abdomen, hips, butt...
yes so hit cardio and weights...and u really must be desperate...spelling HELP with an 'A'....:).....but kidding aside.....focus on weight lifting....building muscle is the best way to increase metabolism and continue to see results...but the fastest improvements you'll see from #1 nutrition(no booze, no junk food, no fried food..u get the point)......and #2 cardio...but lifting weights over the long term will be #1... Eat 5-6 small healthy meals/snacks daily Drink at least half a gallon of water DO cardio 3-5 days a week of 30-60 min Do weight lifting 3 days a week of big compound exercises(don't shy away from big exercises u see big guys do...they are very effective at burning most calories and building most muscle)....so squats, deadlifts, pull ups, push ups, rows, dips, military presses....and so forth... good luck

umm thanks for the advice ..heh heh...relieved..and yes i am desperate..i hate my reflection now..hehe
umm by the way im so unfit i cant even do one push up.and weights? lol. i have started at 2lbs dumbells only! :( speaking of cardio i read about a lot of arguements over h.i.i.t. and intense; and that thing about eating one hour after the run. cuz i dont want to lose whatever scrap of lean mass i might have heh heh and shoo the fatty stuff :p by the way what, in your opinion/experience, is actually more effective...like running or those aerobics classes...i might consider joining if they're actually that great.. :surprised: |

pinkspark...the best cardio is the one that you will do on a consistant basis. If you enjoy the classes, then go for it. If you hate running on a treadmill, I'd find something else to do (elliptical, cycling etc). In actual fact, the best cardio is a variety. So you could run/walk one day, cycle another, and do a class on the third. Having said all this, just remember, diet is the key..eat enough healthy lean nutritious foods.
Good Luck! -------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there. |

umm thanks for the reply flyonthewall:big_smile:
speaking of cardio i read about a lot of arguements over and that thing about eating one hour after the run: i want to lose fat without loss of lean mass...what do u think i should do :(*confused* |

Pink it doesn't matter where you're starting off...you can do all those exercises I pointed out with just bodyweight or with light dumbells...can't do a full push up? fine...do push ups against a wall...or do db presses with dumbells u can do 2,5,10 lb...whatever it is you can do ....the point is to consistantly keep progressing to higher weights...with good form...which in time will translate into fat loss, lean muscle gain, and many other positive benefits....
As FOTW pointed out the best cardio is the one you will stick with....remember good program is one that works slowly and consistantly...so you'll be at it for a while...probably a couple of years before big transformation....and will need to keep doing it to stay in shape.... I suggest you try taking Fish Oil Supplement....2g in the morning and 3g at night...it has been shown to be great for the heart/cardiovascular health and spare muscle break down(in one study subjects on a diet lost less than pound of lean muscle while taking fish oil supplement vs almost 6lb of lean muscle mass for subjects who took a placebo).....

Pink forget about correct meal timing...try to simplify your nutrition for now...eat 5-6 small healthy meals...breakfast, lunch, dinner....and have maybe 2-3 small snacks say halfway between lunch and dinner and snack before sleep.....

Pink...as the saying goes...just do it! Don't fret about what will work the quickest. Stick to the advice given here-menace knows his stuff! Eat healthy and exercise consistently and you will loose your "extra curves". Too often people are looking for the quick and easy method...there isn't one...get your sht together now and you'll be in bikini form by summer (depending I guess on where your starting:))
Good Luck! |
