Hey, this may seem like a stupid question... On the machines in the gym, how do you read the numbering on the weights? The stack of plates is numbered from the top: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. Am I correct in assuming that each plate is 10 pounds?

Thanks for indulging my newbishness.

Alas, you can't assume plate weight. Some are 10, some are 15 and some are 20. Guys running the gym should know. I've been shocked to be able to pull down 180 on one machine and only 12 on another - hmmm.
