Work out felt good! I have been out of the gym for almost 3 weeks due to my shoulders. So I went to the chiro and he gave me some stuff to do to rehab my shoulder ACL.

Hey, I was just wondering if it hurts when you do those shoulder exercises? Does it at all? What exactly happened? How did you get the injury?

MM be careful...take the rehabilitation slowly...otherwise you might slow down the recovery further....remember you're training for long term...you don't want to permanently injure something which will prevent you from benching ever again.......

what kind of a pain was it? I had shoulder pain for over a year...probably closer to 2....I started taking glucosomine/choindrotin and it helped tramendously...I know bb1 suggested another product...in the glucosomine thread in the supplement section which he believes is even more effective....give it a try....and take it 1 workout at a time...

Menace I have been using the universal jointment sport. It has helped with pain allot some times to well. The pain is in the ACL Rotator area. The feeling is hard to desccribe when reaching behind my head it's like an ice pick almost. When holding my shoulders the wron way for a while it's a dull pain. And every now and then it feels like a tendon has slipped out of it's groove. DX to answer your question over head and pressing movements aggravate it. I think the injury has been caused by bad form at times with out proper warm up. The pain really got bad a year ago when I was doing this animalistic shoulder blitz of the abc website.

it's called celadrin...

I had a similar injury which nagged for 2 years...was mostly dull pain in left shoulder....but could be described similarly to an ice pick....while I was doing chest/shoulder workouts....gloucosomine helped me considerably...I also liked to apply tiger balm(menthol/camphor)...which warm up and dull the pain...

have you asked your doc about the issue?

I have a feeling you need to take couple weeks off...and then start training very very light as in rehab....and very slowly build back up...that is after consulting with your doctor....and seeing what he says...

Menace I think your right I should get a referal from my doc to go to the orthopedic. I think an xray will tell more than what the chiro found poking me and working my shoulder around.

exactly....chiro can only do so much....best to get xray taken...to see if there's any damage....so the doc can recommend a course of treatment...

I feel very sorry for you mmaibohm. I can only imagine how it is for you to be going light when you're such a big guy and are capable of lifting tremendous weight. Hope you get better soon, but like Menace said, don't rush on it.

Work out sucked as of lately. I found the answer to my bench problems for now. The floor presses allow me to work free of pain in my shoulders. I think this is do to complete support of the shoulder and limited range of motion. I might have to go for a db floor press record.

MM I wouldn't suggest it...I say go light for at least a month...or progressively heavier into moderate weights...don't over do it....

No work out today went to the doctor. My blood work is good my endo is starting me on metformin to control my sugar and maybe ween me off insulin. Should this new approach work it will mean some serious gains in the gym. I also am on my way to the orthopedic :( doc thinks it's my rotator cuffs.

Go to the doc. There are too many people diagnosing your problem without the benefit of an MRI or X-RAY on here. It sounds like a couple of different things going on in there. Also, recommending supplements to people is a dangerous thing. Glucosamine is a great product but terrible for people with pre-diabetes or full blown diabetes. Never recommend supplements unless you are able to payoff the lawsuit that may follow.

Why is that? Just curious because I am prone to hypoglycemia, and have never heard anything like that. I will take your advice, but I would be interested in hearing more information.

Gator my Endo gave me the ok for the Glucosamine awhile back. Since I am on Insulin he felt it shouldnt impact my BG readings to much. Wrestler Hypo glycemia means your sugar goes low. Hypergclycemia is diabetes where your sugars are high. The problem with the Glucosamine is that it's a factor in the bodys own creation of glucose. The ingestion of it could raise sugar levels.

Glucosamine has been shown to increase the rate of diabetes in lab rats. I know they are rats but their physiology is similar to ours and that is the reason they are tested on. It is just something to consider when injesting any supplement. I type every ingredient on a google search and get as much info I can. This allows me to make an informed decision on a supplement for myself. KNOW what you are putting into your body and always weigh the pros and cons.

I know that I have lower blood sugar, as opposed to high sugar, but I was told to becareful with my diet as I am at a greater risk for type II diabetes. Not sure what the differences in diabetes types are, other than how they affect sugar levels. I really should start researching this, as I have passed out a few times at tournaments after matches. I guess thats the time that my sugar is lowest.

Type 2 diabetes is a possibly three fold issue. One your body either does not produce enough insulin, or it produces to little. Also your body can be insulin resistant and not be able to use it's insulin. I would say they are worried that you might become resistant. The higher the levels of insulin in the blood the more resistant cells become to it due to constand bombardment.

good point gator...i guess a better way is too suggest supplements and have the person check them with his/her doctor to see if they might be helpful or if they should be taken at all...

thanks for that, they never really explained what they meant, just said that I should continue to eat healthy and that I wasn't allowed to cut weight anymore for wrestling unless my doctor said it was ok. But I actually had my most successful year without cutting any major weight.
