This was in the paper today:
Protein Bars
3 1/2 cups reg or quick oats
1 1/2 cups powdered nonfat milk
12 ounces chocolate whey protein powder
1 cup reduced-calorie, fructose sweetened pancake syrup
2 egg whites, slightly beaten
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup natural, unsweetened apple sauce
Preheat oven to 325 F. Mix the dry ingredients together. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well to incorporate. Consistency will be similar to stiff cookie dough. Coat a 9X12" baking dish w/nostick cooking spray and spread the dough evenly in the dish. Bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 15 minutes. Do not overbake. Cut into 10 bars. When cool, wrap tightly in plastic wrap then store in refrigerator.
Each bar has approximately 140 cal, 23g carbs, 15g pro, 0.5g fat.
If you get most of your ingredients on sale and find cheap whey protein powder (40 cents an ounce) you should be able to make these bars for 55 cents each.
Let me know if anyone trys these, maybe I will next weekend.

Sounds pretty tasty...will definitely have to give them a shot. I bet some natural peanut butter could be worked in there somehow! (I want peanut butter in everything! LOL..)

Just made them tonight, and they are pretty tasty. Even for a guy who has never baked a thing in his life. a bit of peanut butter makes them that much better.
