Hi
Im curious about marshmallows! Do they have a lot of calories and carbs and fats etc? I am currently trying to lose that last inch or 2 of fat and am excersing intensly 5 - 6 times a week! I consume high protein and a reasonable amount of carb diet! Are marshmellows a good alternative to eating sweets such as jelly beans? They seem to be nice and light and low fat but not sure? does any1 know the actual nutrition values for them?

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hmm. Good question.

I just went to the Kraft Foods website and found the nutritional facts for Jet-Puffed brand marshmallows. INGREDIENTS: corn syrup, sugar, dextrose, food starch - modified (corn), water, gelatin, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, artificial and natural flavor, artificial color (blue 1). Serving size - 28g. Calories 90. Fat - 0g. Sodium - 30mg. Carbs - 23g. Sugars 17g. Protein - Less than 1g. I'd stay away from them. That's a LOT of sugar for just 4 marshmallows.

Carrots are actually good for curbing sweets cravings.

I am a chocolate addict myself. I found that a bite or two of a chocolate flavor protein bar completely takes care of my chocolate cravings. So does sugar free jello!

This may jog your interest into marshmallows...they are a great pre workout food sometimes! The glycemic index is extreme, and will get you flying to have a great workout! So, no, they are not recommended in any way if you are on a diet.

I like to use them as torches in a camp fire! They light up nicely! Sugar is good for something! LOL!

I really like those small wicky things!!! Especially the pink ones!
I'm thinking very seriously about creating a new marshmellow recipe with tons of protein, vitamines and almost no sugar (it'll give me an excuse to keep on eating them!!). Hmmmmm should be possible, no?!! (o;
