I am getting ready to start this mass building routine and have a couple question. I dont see a big difference from the other work outs i have completed. Is there a differnce? they still want you to do high reps and a lot of sets, when you are doing 20 reps isnt that for cutting and not mass building or is that a warm up set with a light wieght then go to heavey for the 8 6 4 sets?

Dem I have not been to pleased with the routines created here programatically as well. They say there reviewed by people but I hardly doubt it since you get instant results back.

The first set is to make sure of you warming up your muscles before taking heavy. You see, everybody KNOWS that warming up and stretching is necessairy before heavy weight training, but honestly not many people really DO that. Don't know why... maybe to save time...
Anyway ft are so clever to put in this first set of lots of reps to make sure of, well at least TRYING to make you warm up a little so you'll not end hurting yourself.
Secondly all exercise programs are different. For example take the same movement but with barbell or dumbells. It's the same muscles working you might say, YES but by this tiny difference you're touching and hereby stimulating the muscles (and the fibers) differently and that's necessairy to grow muscle mass in great harmony! You guys are complaining about a warm-up set? WOW hard core aren't you ? By time I get to the last set-4 reps I am looking forward to the first lite set-high rep on the next exercise!
I think any work-out program can be modified to each individual. Its hard for a online trainer to get to know you personally....so that is the goal of this board. If you need some suggestions , post it , someone will give you a few variables to try.

You got it right on Philia2.

dem and bill, you have to realize that the programs here at ft are produced for you within seconds.. you should appreciate that because they took months to create for each individual cause we all have different characteristics. I know this because I have discussed this with the founders. There have been nothing but compliments about the success of the programs from the members since day one. So please try the programs - exactly how they are put. Then you will have the right to judge the system.

I am just voicing myself for the great job ft has done for us all.

I agree. While I don't think that there is a guy who reviews my personal data, that's not what I expected. I appreciate that a chart comes to me weekly (for free) and gives me something to go by. If they do this by averaging my information against a database, that's fine by me.

Mass building is more a part of physicality than anything else. Some guys can pack on muscle just by looking at weights. Others really have to struggle for every gain.I truly believe that as a classic ectomorph, I'll never get truly huge.

Yes you got it, it's all about what body type you are born with. You cannot change that one, but just try to make it better. Good luck Rick.

Thanks. For me, it's more about gaining a healthy, strong body than gaining a huge WWF body. Maybe if I was in my 20's I'd think differently, but at this point in my life, I just want to feel healthy and strong. Besides, once you get closer to 50 than 40, it doesn't take much to look better than your peers, and as the Nintendo generation grows up, I'm finding they aren't much competition either.

I don't think any guy can deny the appeal of looking good with his shirt off, but it really does fade into the background when you start seeing guys you went to HS with drop over with heart attacks, or in such lousy shape that shoveling the driveway sends them into back spasms for a month. I never want to be that guy.

I personally feel if u want to get bigger go harder. Use the program they give u and add some execises of your own in there. It's the easiest way. My personal movation is this "Go heavy or go home", " Train hard or don't train at all" So live by those and you might get bigger or you might realize the gym is not for you. That what keeps me going back to the gym. If you want a work out that helped me move up in stregth e-mail at Italian_stallion_19_1999@yahoo.com

mostly biceps & triceps and some lats. I am struggling with my quads because of chronic low back pain (working on stretching to combat it.

I say 'sweet' to describe everything from ZZ Top's beards to dog obstacle courses.
