This is a wierd question....
On leg day, when you are working on the quads, etc. do you gain the most mass/lbs on those days? This is why I ask and my theory behind it....
The leg muscles are big and wiegh a lot. When you work them you do the tears etc, not necessarily building them. When you rebuild them during the day, since they are the biggest do they gain the most mass? Or is it the opposite?

Not that I am trying to get bigger legs, I am doing just fine, but me and a friend got into a debate on this topic. I think that you gain close to the same on all days. He thinks you gain more on certain days (specifically leg day).... what are your thoughts on this subject?

I agree with him as legs, specifily the squat adds mass all over.....that is my thought.

You are on the right track, sbroyhill. Generally, when people work their legs heavy and regularly, they tend to gain over all muscle mass. The main reason is: because the legs are the largest muscle group in the body, when you beat them severely, they demand more repair work from the body, and, thereby, require a greater production of testosterone.

but my question is when do you actually gain the mass the most? on the days you work the legs, or is it about the same even on non leg days?

You're trying to squeeze a unique occurance into a little formula. It doesn't work like that.
Muscle is gained over a period of weeks and months. No tissue is built during lifting; it is torn apart and damage. The building is a result of the tissue repair that comes during your periods of rest. And since no two bodies are the same, or their environments constant, there is no absolute time frame for muscel growth.

*ITS LEG DAY*
You already blew out your wraps.
Your towel cant absorb any more sweat.
Theres puke on the floor.
Your partner is passed out.
Theres a crowd gathering...

And that was just the warm up!

you gain the most mass during recuperation, the legs are the biggest muscle so it should gain the most mass, like 7707mutt says the squat will build mass over the entire body, but just because you train legs doesnt mean your going to gain the most mass on that day, some people say you gain the most mass when you train the entire body three times a week.

I understand that you don't build during the workout..... Maybe I just have a tough time describing what I am meaning to say. I officially drop myself off this topic because I don't know how to word what I mean :)
