For all you guys that have experienced good lean mass growth over the years or months.. what is a reasonable gain for a month? 3lbs? More? Also, I know it makes it difficult by looking in the mirror every day but.. how make does it take to make a noticable difference? I think I have found a good routine, and how to vary it to shock my muscles enough to gain some weight now. I'm just wondering what to expect after working hard, eating right, and sleeping well.

asimmer recently posted on this topic, and the book she cited showed about 1.5-2 lbs per month of muscle as a reasonable benchmark. "Beginner" gains can be pretty amazing, though, and at your age you might be able to pack on muscle pretty well. Just overhauling my diet led to serious "beginner" gains, even though I'd been lifting for years. As far as noticeable gains, I think as little as 5 lbs can be noticeable, especially to other people. Sometimes it's hard to tell on your own, so taking regular measurements is a good way to keep track of your progress.
