Well, for those of you who know me I avoid McDonalds like the plague. I must say though, if you are on the run and need something quick, the NEW Fruit & Walnut Salad, with fresh apples, plump grapes and candied walnuts served with a creamy, low-fat yogurt is a pretty good choice.

Have a protein drink on the side if you need protein, and you should be set for a while.

I think a lot of fast food places are now offering healtheir choices....because #1 they can charge more for healthier options #2 way to bring in new customers #3 improve their image to say that they don't just clog arteries with their product........

I got Chilli + Baked Potato+Chicken Salad w/o dressing at Wendys last time( on a trip with friends)...was much better than Jack in the Box(west coast McD)(lol@ their excuse for a chicken pita) stuff I usually have to buy with friends...

here's more info on mcD's
that fruit and walnut salad has 13 grams of fat.
that's no double quarter pounder with cheese, but, for a salad, that's a lot of fat.

yes it is a lot of fat for a salad, but if you look at mcdonalds website it shows you the break down. 12 of those grams are the candied walnuts...so just leave those out and it's only 1 gram from the yougrt...

thank you...and one must remember, walnuts are excellent source of fats(efa's). We must learn to ascertain what is good, not just lump fats all together in general.

Apparently some companies are now adding some kind of gas to fruits to keep their shelf life.

gasing = most fruits are picked way before they are ripe to allow time for shipping to various locations across the country.Once they reach there final destination, they go through a process where gas is used to ripen the fruit.

Several fruits produce their own gas which accelerates the ripening process. Example - put a banana in a paper bag - It will ripen almost overnight!
