I am trying to loose some weight and over all become a healthier person. I am new to the program and the Exercise resources have been by far the most helpful tool. On the other hand I have been a little disappointed in the nutrition section.

I need help planning my meals for the week and learning about what foods really are good for me and which ones aren't. If i have a salad for lunch should I have pasta for dinner? What foods work together and which ones counter act each other? I have always been relatively physically active so the exercise comes much more naturally than being on a well balanced healthy diet.

I try to pack my lunch at least four times a week. I am getting tired of packing myself a head of lettuce everyday some days with tuna and others with salmon. Do any of you have any suggestions on easy to pack healthy lunches that don't involve iceberg lettuce? In addition does anyone have good resources they can pass along on meal planning.

If I don't plan out my meals I get lazy and eat whatever is easy. I want to stick with this but I know that if I don't get more help on the food side I'm not going to see results I am happy with.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Sarah ,I feel your pain. I pack my lunch too. It is pretty much no sugar low cal whole wheat bread sandwiches. I use low fat/ nofat cold cuts and tuna, salmon. It is very boring.

Do a fit buddy search and there is some info in the discussion boards here. They don't help me much as I am a picky eater. I miss my pizza, fried seafood, and food in general that has taste.

I guess I just can't get into the salmon thing. I love all sorts of different kinds of fish but salmon it seems like I take 2 bites and I'm too full to eat anything else. heheh ...

Get yourself some stir fry veggies...just use pam spray and seasoning. It doesn't have to be boring. Maybe have chicken soup, or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (spread lightly ofcourse:) butternut squash soup from a box is convenient and not too high in carbs...every now and then it would be okay. Try salmon/turkey jerky as a snack it's yummy. keep fruits and 1/2 a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich with you and it will help keep you from eating an unhealthy alternative.

On Friday go to the store and buy you a turkey breast. Thaw it overnight and Saturday fire that puppy up. While it is cooking make you a pot of vegetable soup. When it's done you have enough turkey and soup for lots of lunches and snacks. Also, I have found that If I prepare a good nutritous dinner, I can take those leftovers for lunch. That way my nutritional planning is a little bit easier. And the stir fry is excellent anytime. I also try to Keep some pasta handy just in case-make sure you use a healthy sauce and whole grain pasta. Just my thoughts. I can't keep the salad fresh enough to eat. It usually wilts or I would be eating some of that for lunch too.

Try eating pizza w/ lots of veggies but without cheese after a workout. It tastes the same minus the fat.
I do miss burgers and fries though:(
oooh egg rolls...I eat sping rolls with peanut butter now when I get the craving.

I like spinach leaves for salad the best and I mix it up with other freshly cut veggies and put it in a seal tight tupperware which keeps it fresh for about a week. I change my salad into a Greek salad so I don't get so burned out on it right away. Caeser Parmesean Vingerette by Kraft is excellent!! (low fat and low carb) Put some Feta cheese and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and of course a little bit of sunflower seeds - Yummy !!!

I'd rather eat the tupperware.
