I have just started today and already began eating for the day before I was motivated to join the site. So here is the deal, I am far over my fat intake for the day and am wondering if I still need to work towards my caloric intake to meet the goal? If I do so I will definately be taking in more fat as well. If it helps to know the info. I am 138lbs at 5'3", oh, and I am breast feeding if that makes a difference on the outcome (I know I need certain foods for the baby).

It is important to keep your fat intake down. Focus on getting nutritious foods like lean protien (eggs, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, lean beef etc) lots of veggies, complex carbs and healthy fats(from fish, nuts, olive oil etc). If you focus on eating only nutritious foods (see grocery list for healthy living in the food and nutrition forum-it's thumbtacked at the top of the list) you'll find it much easier to meet your caloric needs. Also, try and eat every 3 hours or 5-7 smaller meals per day.
Good Luck and welcome to FT.

Here's a long but worth the time post from bb1fit that might help you out. It used to be a sticky but doesn't appear to be now.

Welcome, You are going to love this site. I do. Breast feeding I did with all four of my kids. I did workout and seem to stay really thirsty and some what hungry. My calories where alittle higher then usual. I agree with 5-6 small meals and whole foods. Anyways baby needs nutrition, and for me that was a good enough excuse to eat healthy. I still eat 5-6 smalls and workout 6 days a week.
Congrats on the baby.
