So, is it a crime for men to wearing simple pair of black lycra shorts during a workout at the gym? What are your thoughts and feelings towards this?

Me - I love em'. I work out 4-5 dyas a week and I like the way they feel, like the way they look, and definitely opt for them over potato sack baggy shorts. My wife loves the spandex on me too.

So be honest. How many of you despise spandex, how many of you dig it, or are you indifferent and why. Thanks:cool:

The last thing I want to see at the gym is a guy in spandex.
Try putting the baggy shorts over the spandex.
I would actually wear it sometimes but only with shorts over it

One of the first times I met my step father, he came out to swim with a speedo on. After my brother and i laughing for a few minutes, we had to tell him not to wear those here.

But he was from Waco

Yes....that would be my suggestion...put some shorts on over the spandex...and don't wear the short shorts over the spandex...looks ridiculous...honestly.

As a swimmer, we have guys wearing the long spandex swim trunks and believe me, they leave nothing to the imagination. For fitness swimming, it is totally appropriate and the guys are in the water 95% of the time, so no show. I think it would be a tad revealing at the gym...I'd vote for shorts over top!

I for one have no need and see no reason you need to wear just spandex in a gym. As for your baggy shorts getting in the way that is a choice to wear baggy shorts...I have no want to "see" what spandex shows.....it offends most people on one level or another though most like me say nothing about it. Cover up I say!

I wear spandex on any leg day, but I also put shorts over top. It's practically a requirement to squat wide stance.

I don't know about that Tim...they were all clothed at least somewhat when I saw them...BUT...the other night I went walmart up the street just to get away from my work and chit chat with some people I know there....and there was a guy walking around THERE naked!!!!!We heard it over the walkie-talkies...he went in the changing room and came out naked...we went looking to see if we could see before security got him...we missed him.

But we did ask if there was anything worth seeing...we're such perv's.

Sicko...

We were in the Dominican a few years ago and there were a bunch of German folk in the area at the same time. Most of the men were not wearing much.

There is one man who wears spandex short at my gym and usually they are purple, yesterday a pattern of purple and pink with a hot pink cropped t-shirt. Sweet guy and I don't care if he wears spandex (have not noticed any indecent protrusions), but obviously what he wears tells us a lot about him. If you don't care what people think of you, then wear what you want. I'm not fond of spandex on men at all or on women who aren't in great shape. I also don't get women who expose their bellies wearing short bra tops when they still have rolls. Not sure what they are thinking.

Wow. So far I'm reading everyone hates it. My wife is very surprised too. She likes the way a toned male bod looks in spandex. As for those who act like it's toture to see it, no one has a gun to your head to make you look at anyone.

So why is a man's form so horrible and a woman's okay? Many women go to the gym practically naked and no crack/ no curve is left to the imagination. I certainly have no prob with that. But why is that so acceptable, while many think a man should be covered in something baggy. Interesting cultural question I think.

I for one think men look sexy in gym spandex. As long as they are at least in moderate I think it looks great. Shiney spandex seems to look better on men too.

No offense to djaxis1 or nayeligym, but you both sound like you have a "thing" for spandex...that is nice for you. I personally do not want to see that type of clothing at a gym, in my opinion it is just being worn for sexual reasons.....for decades people worked out in a gym in non-spandex clothing.....no problems. Now it is like people think it is needed. As for men can not and women can, wear it I think neither should...it is not a needed thing.

I agree with Mutt. I would just rather not see it. Sure I have a choice to look, but its like a car accident (or someone with a mullet) - even after you see the wreck (or the hair) its hard to look away.

The next time you think Spandex, think this guy:

Women also look good in dresses but that does not mean that a man would. As for not having to look, that is true but as Jb said sometimes you cannot help it. You asked for opinions and got them.....down with spandex:laugh:

Mutt...I don't know where to buy women's workout clothing that is not spandex. And wearing tight fitting bottoms is more modest for a woman than wearing loose shorts. I'm not too comfortable doing leg press with everything exposed. So, the uniform for women should be sweat pants and a baggy t shirt? The reason I wear tighter fitting workout clothes is for me...so I can see changes. Lose clothes cover everything up. Looking good in cute workout clothes works as motivation for me, also. I'm vain--I'm a woman. It is my nature. As for men in spandex...I think gay men are more likely to find it sexy than women. I also don't think there is anything wrong with looking attractive at the gym. I want to look good wherever I'm seen.

Not at all I have no probem with people using it as a tool. I have been in a lot of gyms and have seen a lot of outfits....90% of the spandex outfits people wear are NOT tastefully done....My whole argument for this has been that most of us at the gyms do not want to see things "hanging out" be it by the tight spandex or by to baggy clothing....

BTW, the outfit you see me in was taken for progress tracking only, I do not wear that outfit to the gym! I hate those pants and only wear the bra top under other tops. For the record! That would be considered a definite no-no for public exposure.

I think as long as your 'junk' isn't hanging out the bottom of your shorts while you do crunches on the exercise ball (ewwwww), you can wear what you want, but don't be suprised if you hear snickering coming from the weight room...

Unfonrtually men can't do things women can, nor can women do things men can. Especially in the public eye.

Me perosnally, I don't want to see guys in spandex, nor their jeans hanging off thier asses. I don't wanan see girls with the "camel toe" either. Their's a tastful way to wear things, and a not so tasteful way. If you run track, Or bicycle....go with some underarmor spandex if you wish.

But if your wearing it just to try and "show off" what you got, or what you THINK you got. I'd suggest you get your ego in check, cause no one but your wife cares about your junk.

Evidently your gonna do what you want, since you think you look good in it, then go wear your tights.

Well lets see - men are hairy, we have things hanging between our legs, we don't have boobs.....This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when he dated the nudist. Women have (generally) beautiful naked bodies, men don't.
