Si I saw a vid of Mendy benching 1008. For gear lift it was awesome, hell for any lift it was awesome.
My problem? Well I am a raw lifter I use a belt and so far that is it. I totally respect a man that uses gear, do not mistake that. BUT, after seeing Gene's lift at the Arnold and Mendy's vid I have to say that I think it is a bit overrated. I say this because neither guy could get his arms to meet if he wanted to. It looked like the suits, which did not meet in the back, standard practice I believe, well they looked like freaking rubberbands. I understand it is hard to get to their levels even with suits, but my respect is held for that lifter that hits 600 over more with out a suit.

I am more impressed by raw lifts also...but that's because I can relate better to these feats of strength...I was very impressed by the 715 raw bench by mendy...probably more so than the 1008....

Mendy still did a much cleaner shirted lift than Gene imo....and nevertheless an amazing feat of strength....i can only imagine what half a ton feels like in your hands...capable of crushing you like a twig...

Thats why I am a huge mendelson fan. He also holds the world record in raw lifting.

As well as posting squats well over a grand.
