How bad is this for getting "cut up" and does this hinder the efforts of the "six pack"? I drink about 4 8oz glassess of 1% milk a day with meals.. THANK YOU

The carbohydrate in milk is a simple carb, which is very easily converted to energy by the body, or fat if it doesn't need the energy right away. Remember that all of the carbs that end in "ose" are sugars. Glucose (table sugar), fructose (fruit sugar), and lactose (milk sugar), to name a few. Simple carbs including sugars and some starches make it very hard to get cut.

Getting cut has everything to do with Kcalories in vs. Kcalories out. ALL carbs are reduced in the body to the highest GI sugar in existence, Glucose. In other words, don't focus completely on carbs alone - they are necessary. Focus rather on all kcals coming into your body (from all nutrients), and how many you are burning.

I am like you , theggman. I like 1% milk and I drink maybe 2-3 cups per day. I want to get a "6 pack" too, and I eventually will. The key I believe is eating a proper diet and reducing body fat. CALORIES are in fact the key. Without milk, you may be looking at some type of horsepill calcium supplement, which is NOT my style. I take a multivitamin and 2 C capsules daily. That is all the supplement I want or need. So if you want my take, I say "GOT MILK?"

Some people drop dairy out completely before a competiton because it makes you blaot. I don't drink milk becasue of an allergy, but I would think that if it is worked into your total calories and macronutrient amounts, you should be able to include it. if you want to know whether it is affecting your getting lean, cut it out for a week or two and see if there is a difference.

I also drink 1%, although it is with my protein shakes. I say keep drinking it, it's better than soda. If you really feel your having too much, try half a glass of milk after a glass of water. Then you'll still feel full and get some tasty milk.
