Milk is a good source of protein, but only if your not lactose intolerant which I don't think you are since you say you can drink a ton of it. It is good for your goals, but the only side effect is that you'll probably get some baaaaadd gas. lol Oh and try to stick to skim milk instead of whole milk. If you can't drink skim milk and you can only drink whole milk, try going to 2% milk for a week then switch to 1% milk and then finally you'll be able to tolerate the skim milk. Good luck with your goals, and keep drinking milk, but remember not to go over your caloric needs to lose weight.

I wouldn't drink tons of milk because of it high surgar content especially if your trying to loose weight, i'd try to limit it to a 1-2 glasses a day having one in the morning preferably and def. not post wokout as this will slow digestion which is the last thing you want PWO. Good Luck.

oh right I forgot about the "not after the workout" rule of milk. The Casien protein in milk will slow down the absorption on the fast acting protein powder or shake

I'd stick to skim milk since, like all dairy, other forms of milk are high in saturated fat. Milk is fairly calorically dense, but the protein in it slows down absorption of lactose (which doesn't have near the effect on blood sugar as, say, sucrose) further. Milk actually has a pretty low GI.

Some people are concerned about the use of bovine growth hormones and antibiotics in milk - if that's the case, you can buy organic milk (made without BGH, steroids, antibiotics, etc.), though it's considerably more expensive. I usually get horizon organic milk - costs $4/half gallon, but I usually only go through a half gallon/week.

I on the other hand go through a full gallon a week.xxrajxx, I'm just curious, how much do you go through a week? It must be a lot huh? I only drink the stuff when I'm thirsty (that's just a sip) and then with my cereal which I only add 1/2 a cup to it. I have 2 bowls of cereal a day, and with all the sips and stuff, I'd say I drink about 2 cups a day.
