I preach walnuts and almonds to eat all the time for snacks...well more good news to back this up!
One of the results from the seminal Nurses Health Study
determined that eating 5 ounces of nuts per week could result in a 25 percent decrease in your risk of gallstones. This declaration came after following over 80,000 women for about 20 years -- so it's no fly-by-night conclusion.
Nuts are a complex plant food that offer several stone-fighting benefits. Most notably, they are high in dietary fiber and phytoesterols, both of which protect against cholesterol gallstone formation.
Of course, nuts have always gotten a bad rap for being high in fat and calories. Keep in mind, though, that the fat content of nuts does not even compare with that of other snacks, such as chips and cookies. The fat in nuts is monounsaturated fat, and has been shown to actually lower cholesterol and be healthy for you.
It's important to be mindful that there are plenty of factors that can add up to gallstones. But adding this simple ingredient to your diet might offer some extra help in keeping your gallbladder free and clear of stones -- and keeping it where it belongs: in your body!

yes, you are right, but they are the highest omega 3:6 ratio of any nut and quality calories. One of the best reasons to have nuts as a snack is also a great one for bb's and dieters, no impact on blood sugars, thus no insulin worries. Just keep them in your calorie range, and you are fine and eating a healthy snack.

Your best bet if you can do the taste is raw from the health food store. Many folks get so used to the roasted in oil varieties that they don't like the taste of them raw. But cashews for instance are great raw. As are pecans and almonds.
