I lost about 45 pounds last year and I have been trying ever since to lose another 10-15 pounds. My problem is I have lost my motivation and willpower. I talk myself out of exercise some days and I have no willpower when it comes to certain foods. How can I stay motivated and reach my goal? I haven't gained any of the weight back that I lost but those last 10-15 pounds are so stubborn.

Have you heard of SMART goals?
S is for specific - so decide exactly how much weight you want to lose
M is for measurable - weight is easily measurable (but so are inches and you might lose fat but gain muscle and end up weighing the same, although you'll look and feel better - think if you really want weight loss to be your goal)
A- I can't remember what A stands for , sorry!
R is realistic - would 10 pounds be a more sensible goal or do you think 15 is achievable?
T is for time limited - set yourself a time in which you want to achieve your goal.

Using SMART goals helps you keep focused. I also think it is helpful to write down your goals and log your progress once a week.

If possible plan your workouts in advance and write them down in your diary so that you know exactly when you're going to exercise.

It's also possible to "trick" yourself into doing exercise when you don't really feel like it by saying to yourself "I'll only do 10 or 15 minutes and stop after that if I don't feel like doing anymore". Every time I've done this by the time 10 minutes have passed I've started to enjoy myself and completed a full workout.

A - attainable.. pretty much the same as realistic, but has to do with the time limit :)

T - tangible.. can you see it, taste it, smell it .. to prove that you've reached it.

Princess has given you several great pieces of advice Bonnie.. set your goals, write them down, make a schedule of your exercise plan.

Also: When you get down to that last 10 pounds, it is frequently your diet that is holding you back. I'm sure you know how important your calories per day is, with an appropriate balance of proteins/carbs/fats. If you are having a hard time resisting certain foods, then establish your meal plan for the week, shop accordingly, prepare snacks ahead of time so you know what you're going to eat and when.. then allow yourself that special food when you reach certain milestones!!

i always found that having a gym buddy is good motivation. find a friend at the gym. or go running with some people from the neighbourhood. team support is always the best.

as for the diet. maybe try going vegetarian. i'll promote that to the fullest (or just try to cut out red meat....that's the devil).

remember...veggies are your friend! a good snack is raisins/craisins, celery sticks, baby carrots (try low fat dressing with it to give it some flavour). i love veggies.

plus, if you have a sweet tooth, there's tons of low-carb/diet desserts out there that arent too bad. give it a try.

good luck hun!

Put on some good music and move. It'll make you burn some calories and get your mind off the food.
And buy some great fitness magazines and say to yourself; "IF THEY CAN DO IT, SO CAN I!!!!"
