My motivation is definitely FT and bodybuilding mags. I'm addicted to this site and eating healthy.

What motivates you when your in the gym bumping iron?
Is it the noing in a year your going to have bigger muscles, or is it just being in the gym with your friends.
What ever your motivation you will allways have days where you will feel like that motivation just is not working for you anymore, so you may look to somwhere else for that motivation. Here is a saying that gets me bumped for a workout or a game-"Any type of training gains that you obtain, therefore, will be due to the choices (self-control) you make that are in the best interests of the team and themselves."

What gets you motivated and why?

Knowing how I want to look and feel and that the change is only going to come from hard work, time and effort. You get a picture in your head and work your way towards that. Also I've hopefully got some changes in work coming my way which is a real boost as a short term goal.

I get motivated by the people I see here on FT and their accomplishments and I get motivated by the desire within to be strong in mind, body and spirit one day.

I want to work out, but then again, i dont want to get into the gym and lift these small amounts of weights and have trouble with them while everybody else stands there and watches and talks shit. I'm 185 lbs and can probably only bench 185 lbs. Thats pathetic and everybody i work with WILL let me know that. So i try to work out alone.

Rhyno,

The only way to get stronger is to lift. I started out at 160 lbs and I was lucky if I could bench 135. I now weigh 195 and I can bench 300, so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Just work hard.

Yeah , i was just in the gym, i did one set, not much, but my goal isnt to get big buff and strong. I just want the definition to come out. I did one set, all our weights are in Kg so i'm not good with converting. I know it was regular big bar whatever that weighs in Kg and i put 2 15 Kg's on it and only did 11 reps. I was going to go do my 2nd set but the big man came in. Too intimidating. I'll wait till late tonight when everybody sleeps. Anybody know how to convert Kg's to lbs? I weight 183Kg's too, how many lbs is that?

Does your gym really have a bunch of a-holes like that? Most gyms I've been in, everyone gets some respect as long as they're working hard and know what they're doing. Well, I suppose there's always a few young juiceheads who might say stuff, but screw it, you're there for yourself, not them.

Rhyno, there is nothing pitiful about benching your own weight. lbs. Get one of the big men alone and say to him what you said to us. You'll be amazed that 99% of them will help you. Man its all of us against gravity. Thats what it comes down to. I do understand the intimidation thing but ask one of them to give you a minute alone and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

1kg=2.2

Yeah, well you got to remember I'm in the airforce with a bunch of Big headed air force guys that always want to be the best. I'm sure a few guys, like the ones i know will lend a hand, but others wont. Our Gym, well its inside a Tent if that helps. The one at work (firestation) is shitty, its just bench pressing and a bunch of old rusty free weights. The bench isnt even screwed on and it wobbles back and forth and hard to balance the weight when you bench. What do you all think about doing these exercises on the Bowflex?

As an ex navy man, I can't imagine a reason for anybody in the air force to have a big head.:big_smile:

Key word:Privately. When people get around their friends, especially if you arent friends with their friends, the dark side comes out.
