I was planning on following a hypertrophy workout plan for about 5 weeks that lighted the weight (w/ 8-12reps a set) i was using and put more of an emphasis on the speed of my contrations. For example for bench press...i would take 4 seconds to lower the weight then 1 second to push it up...however when i read my personalized training program it had my doing reps of 20, 8, 6,and 4 with heavier weights...what the best way to gain muscle mass??????

thats the best way to start increase the weight as your reps decrease.
-------------- I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it is gone past me I will turn to see fear's path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain

if u want help with hypertrophy, why not post your question in the bodybuilding section as opposed to powerlifting. powerlifters (real powerlifters that is) arent after hypertrophy
-------------- "I get up in the morning around six to run for about an hour. Later in the day, I lift with a partner. Following my lifting sessions, I usually do speed and agility drills. Later, I drill all my holds and moves."
'Isnt that lifestyle boring?'
"Yes, but the gold medal is very shiny."
