Hey...couldn't find a recent post about this.

My problem: Went to europe for 5 weeks, got real sick at the end. Bottom line is I haven't lifted in 6-7 weeks. I tried to keep my calories up while in europe but I still ended up losing about 5-7lbs. I can definitely tell I shrank slightly.

Question: Does muscle memory exists. I still haven't found a good definition of what it is and how it works and if so, how long will it take me to regain my muscle. I diet fairly well. 8-9 meals a day, clean food so that's not a problem.

Let me know,
Adam

Yes, it does. Someone who has trained in the past, really doesn't matter how long ago it was, will "redevelope" faster than a newbie just beginning for instance.

Hey BB1, my pictures are really old...i've developed a ton of muscle since then. Before I left I was about 207, now 200lbs...natural. I wanted to do my first competition by August 2008.

I figured I would need to bulk up to about 220lbs and then diet 3months down to 200lbs for competition. Do you think it's possible or should I go for a later date? It would mean I have about 8months to gain 20lbs of muscle naturally.

To be 200 lbs. at a weight of 220, this would mean you start at 10% bf and lose nothing but fat. This is really a hard scenario to accomplish at best.

And if you can gain 20 lbs. of muscle naturally in 8 months being a "seasoned" lifter, you should sell this program. You would make tons of money!

haha, thanks for the reality check. I guess i'll aim for 10lbs and just shift my contest date to a later time. I'm just itching to go on stage. My cousin is a bodybuilder in wisconsin and won Mr. Wisconsin 1 or 2 yrs ago...so I'm just trying to get to his level as soon as possible.

Good luck to you Hank....did not mean to rain on your parade, but reality has to set in some time, better earlier than be dissapointed after tons of hard work dieting.

So get this...to add to my depressing story. I come back and I'm sick right...well I keep getting sick practically every weekend (sick right now). So needless to say, it's put a huge damper on my training and dieting. I'm now down to barely 190lbs from 207lbs in July and I'm not happy. I've been training on and off but getting sick keeps me from eating properly.

How long do you think it will take to gain my weight back when I finally get healthy again?! It's depressing the hell out of me....17 hard earned pounds were lost in what seems like overnight.
