Doesn't matter man, theres no linear curve for me to convey to you how your strength should increase, somtimes you can have a dry spell and not increase for several month, then boom! you'll max 20lbs higher for no reson. Yes, its true taller and skinner people have more trouble benching and squating, but still thats no excuse. I've relitivly short and stocky, however I can't bench worth a crap. But cause of my wide hips, and short torso, I can deadlift and squat well.
What I concider strong may not be what you concider strong. Theres weight room strength and functional strength......theres one rep strenght, and muscle endurance strength.
I concider strength more than just, what you can bench press or curl, to me i'm sorry to say, or those people who manly want bragging rights. I mean come on in the olympics they don't have a max "curl", thats just and ego boost for some.
True strength to me is full and over all strength, kakaroto threw in for no reason his maxes to show, 315 on bench is impresive, however, he squats the same amount, to me that isn't strength. YOu should easly be able to do 100+ lbs between lower and upper body lifts, concidering thats th erlargest muscles in your body are on your lower body! Unless you have a medical reason of coarse, messed up back, torn acl, but hell , I have come off injuries just as bad, and I can squat 450!

Sorry this is really and answer you probably wanted to hear, but if its any consolation, your "strong"

mdubbs7, You can not change your body type, but you can change your body. A healthy diet and proper resistance program can make a difference.

LOL gotta agree with what bigandrew's comment, especially in regards to people having different opinions on what is "strong". Either way good luck on your choices!

BTW 315..not impressive if you yourself weigh 300

I say concentrate on quickness as opposed to mass, mdubbs. You can add mass to a point and still maintain your quickness (and even improve it) but for a 6'5" guy playing college ball, I'd always make agility the #1 priority. I suppose it all depends on your natural strengths and the type of player you are, though. You'll make the right decision.

Train fo ryour sport, I'm a cheerleader, so I have to train to be one. I can bodybuild A lil bit, but I always have to add some jerk cleans, one arm cleans and stuff into my routine, even though its not "bodybuilder" movements. You can always add some strength to yoru body, you can do that with out actully getting much bigger. Howvcer bulking up, it might slow you down. I'm not good a b- ball, i'm a short stocky white boy, with no ups lol.

Squats, jumping squats( big time), sprints, quick explosive benchpresses( for passing), tri cep extensions, some bicep work, abbs and deadlifts, well all help you in b-ball in one or more ways.

also hamstring work, The longe ryour hamstrings can stretch greater your stride length, wich equals the faster you are.
