Hey everyone. As i've begun to eat alot healthier recently i've eliminated all desserts, however i still have that craving for a tasty snack after dinner every night. 2 things that i really like are some rice/corn cakes with peanut butter (sometimes natural, sometimes pb with palm oil - no hydrogenated fats though, or added sugar). And when i want something a little lower fat i have oats with cinnamon and a small square of 85% dark chocolate. i figure that the pb has good fat, etc, and oats have fiber, cinnamon helps blood sugar and dark chocolate has flavanols, etc. Does this sound right, or am i just making an excuse. These snakcs sound healthy enough to me, do u think i can eat one or the other every night? My goals by the way, are just to be healthier and fitter, I'm not looking to lose weight, gain, etc.
Thanks.

It all boils down to how it fits in with your total calories for the day and also how big was that dinner.

well i don't really count calories so i'm not sure...All i know is i've been eatin them for the past 1-2 weeks and am not putting on anyweight. The dinner is average sized...by the time i eat one of these snacks i am hungry, and i go to sleep about 3-4 hours after eating.

look at the dessert recipes in this forum - lots of ways to have protein and kave it taste good. One of my favorite evening snacks is - I make Sugar-free, fat-free pudding and let it thicken, then mix in a scoop of protein powder before eating it. Tasty and available in many flavors.

The only issue I seew ith your snacks are the higher carb counts before bed. If it isn't affecting your weight, though, I guess you aren't overdoing it.

I found something neat at Safeway the other night, Vitabrownies. 100 cal per brownie, whole wheat, has fiber and 6 o 7 grams protein. Taste decent for a healthy brownie! They are expensive though.
