I recently went to the doctor because my teacher said that the color of my skin is abnormal, and she was worried so she told my mom, and I had to go get a blood test taken. The doctor says that my hands are a yellow color and it could be signs of anemia. This really sux. And then to top it off, he doesn't want me to be taking protein shakes anymore because he says that it'll mess up your kindneys and liver. Has anybody else ever had this problem? He says that people should be checked for everything before they start taking any supplements of any kind. He also said that I should stay away from creatine. I don't know what to do now. It's going to be hard for me to make up the calories of the protein shakes with food. I'm just not used to eating this much. (trying to gain mass) but are there any other ways that you could make some great gains on without supplements?

Listen to your doctor. I've never heard of anybody getting discolored skin. Yellow could be a sign of a liver problem, and perhaps your dr wants you to have another blood test later on. To much of anthing can hurt your liver and kidneys.
Guess you have to eat chicken and chicken and tuna with tuna!
How much protein are/were you taking?

I think that the liver problem is what it is. I'm not sure though. I'll keep yall updated on the information of my health. (not that you care or anything) lol. Too much protein and creatine my doctor says can hurt your liver and kidneys and that's a bad thing because they are both very big organs. I guess that I am going to have to eat more and more chicken and tuna. I eat that everday. but I'll just have to eat more. That also means more money though. Those protein shakes were pretty cheap for it's nutritional facts. Charlie, I saw the other post in the nutrition section. Oh and Carivan, I was taking about 4 shakes a day and I try to get in 150 grams of protein. I still am trying to get that much protein.

It turns out that it's not a liver problem. I asked the doctor about this, and he said it would have shown up in the blood test results. He still doesn't know exactly what is causing my skin to turn this color. I have done some research myself and I think I have Jaundice. I haven't told the doctor of my research. I'm afraid that he'll just get angry that I'm trying to do his job or something. I don't know. I've already taken 3 blood tests. The first was for the liver, the second was for hepititus, and this last one that I haven't gotten results back from is for the kidneys. Why can't the doctor just find out what's wrong in the first blood test? Why can't he test everything at once? Do you think he's just in it for my insurance? Another thing, he says you should only get protein the size of the palm of your hand for the whole day! If that's the healthy case, then I am very unhealthy I eat so much more and I know lots of you all do as well.
