Hey guys! I've been trying to invent a bit of a diet for myself for a while. So this is what a normal day of mine consists of. i wanted to see if its enough or if i should add more. I'm a male 20 yrs old, and wiegh about 74Kg. I want to increase in muscle size but not increasing my gut size. so here it goes.

Meal1. 2 brown bread sandwiches with peanut butter
1 multivitamin
protien shake(23g of protein)
{sometimes i take cereal instead of the sandwiches)

Meal2. 2-3 hard boiled eggs with brown bread again
I put some ham and chesse in them too.

Meal 3. 4 handfulls of white rice with tuna. the tuna has 23g of protein. i put a tomato and maybe some onions etc.. in

Meal 4. whatever mum cooks :). sometimes chicken, pork with potatos or pasta etc. I have a protein shake after, depending on what time i train.

meal 5. this is after the gym. a fruit, protein shake and maybe a sanwich again if im hungry. sometimes a take a ow fat yougart too.

So what do u guys think.... I've been whining for some time now. sorry.

check the brown bread & make sure that is 100% whole wheat - just because it is brown doesn't mean it is any better than the white(read the labels)

I wonder if you are having too many grains - one slice of bread or 1/2 cup of rice is a serving - how many are you getting??

If I calculated your weight right I got you around 170lbs. which means what your taking in so far isn't too far off to gain depending on that one meal. That one meal needs the protein to be around 40-50g, carbs may be a little too high, but to gain, probably ok, fats are ok and the caloies around 500-600. This is just my opinion. Others may tell you different and I hope they do. That's what this site is all about. Gathering information and making an educated decision. Try and make your diet up from foods on the "grocery list for healthy eating" in the specific diet and nutrition forum. Whole grains, complex carbs, good fats and protein sources, etc. Whole grain bread, Natural peanut butter, watch the kind of cereal you eat, I'd steer clear of the ham, if you have cheese, make it good cheese, not "singles" for example. Good luck!

I'll agree with the need to introduce some fibrous and leafy carbs for nutrients, but fail to see where he needs 200g carbs or more, not totally disagreeing but just stating he can acheive his goal without the added carbs. Especially at his age.

He's also looking to gain lean muscle, not bulk-up.
