Currently I am a 6"1 male that weighs 168 lbs. My goal is to gain as much weight as i can while still being very defined, Ideally around 200 lbs. Currently I work out 3 times per week. Monday - Chest, shoulders, triceps. Wednesday - Quads, Hampsprings, Calves and Friday - Upper Back, Lower Back and Traps. I have been eating ALOT! Previously in my life it has been so hard to gain wieght. I have this strategy where I eat pretty healthy, lots of tuna, chicken, turkey and whey. Also, 4-5 times per week I eat Harveys or wendys. From harvey i ussually get 2 orignal hamburgers and from wendys i get 3 jr Burgers. I never eat fries or drink pop or anything like that. Recently I have noticed I have been getting a lil bit of a belly. This is very new for me because I am very active person. I run long distance, play soccer competitively, swim and so on. Since I started this wieght training and eating regiment, i have done minimal cardio. The wieght is coming, but so is this lil belly. My question is Should I be worried? I have had such a hard time gaining wieght in the past (I think because i did SO much cardio) that now i am gaining weight. WOuld it make sense for me to gain as much as possible in the next 8 or 9 weeks and then do alot of cardio this summer and get defined? and is me eating harveys and wendys a good idea to add some extra bulk?? Please some suggestions!!

definately cut down on cardio, bodybuilders do a minimal amount to help pack on the muscle. packing on muscle is obviously your goal for the 200 lbs so you still have to eat lean (keep wendys or harveys to one cheat day). I went this route and the belly can get worse before you know it. you say you eat alot but how many calories. to gain weight you have to eat more than you burn, as an active athlete your basal metabolic rate is probably pretty high. long distance runners and the ilk are always lean - high levels of aerobics burn muscles which is what you want to gain. so just cut back on the aerobic exercise before you begin to eat more and see if that helps. muscle gain and high levels of aerobics are antagonistic, so you should carefully assess how important the muscle gain is to you and your long term goal.

See I am 6"1 so I think 200 lbs is a good wieght, and i feel i can still run long distance for fun at this weight. Another reason is that at 190-200 lbs i can have real good feild presence on the soccer and bball feild. Thanks for the suggestions on cutting back on the harveys/wendys. I figured it would be a good way to put on weight, but it is probably all bad weight?
On a average day i eat this: I will calculate the calories later
3 Eggs in a sandwich
1 protien bar 22g of protien
2 big sandwiches (one chicken, one turkey) on flax bread or 12 grain
1 can of tuna a day 40 g protein
Pasta dinner or chicken breast dinner

If i eat alot of good calories will it spread over my body better and not goto my stomach ??

Sounds like a lot of your daily carbs is in the form of breads and pastas, cut those down add brown rice yams and veges...see how that helps

Thanks guys! I am glad I joined this website.
So, what kind of vegies would you suggest? And the breads, I prob eat about 6 peices a day. I try to keep them flax, 12 grain or whole wheat, so are u saying i should cut down on this ?
And is it alright to eat 2 cans of tuna a day? or should i keep variety ? I have never ate yams.. how do i get them and how do i prepare them!?
Sorry for all the questions but I can stop asking with all these great responses!
