so after a workout its important to absorb protein and carbs, so is myoplex good for the post-workout shake? also, theres all this talk about maltodextrin....what is that and in what form does it come in?

There are 2 myoplexes...original, and enriched with fibre/aspartame free. Both good, but that all depends on what you are looking for. I use a protein from powder and it contains 35 grams of protein where myoplex is only around 24. It best to have a shake post workout.
After training, ones glucose reserves are depleted, and it is a good wat to replenish with dextrose, glucose, maltodextrin. Bottom line it prevents catobolism to ones muscles.

In general, I'd avoid Myoplex. It's a decent post-workout shake, though.
