What are the best clothing items/brands for beginner, intermediate, advanced bodybuilders? Any fashion no-nos?

Well now Kalanchoe, he was just asking a question. Weren't you the one who criticized people for attacking others posts and what not? Anyway, Ogun, Otomix (website is Otomix.com) is one of the big names in bodybuilding clothing, footwear and accessories. What makes me laugh though are a few people in the gym that will walk around with black shoes and grey socks with some weird shorts. And, I also get a laugh when I see guys walking around wearing lifting belts. For one, they are to loose, they are very unnessecary unless you are squatting or deadlifting A LOT of weight, and these same guys ONLY use machines.

Ogun,

As far as fashion goes, alot of people just stay with comfort clothes, t-shirts and sweats...but for others, Otomix, Hotskins, Pitbull, body alive and T-Michael carry fitness wear. Otomix carries a variety for martial arts, yoga and bodybuilding.

don't go by what's in style but by what you like to wear and think you look good in. not all styles work for everyone...oftentimes just for the models. This way, you don't wind up looking like a carbon copy of everyone else

Well I'm 30 and I'm getting sort of fashion conscious; I believe a man who works out in class does something more for himself than someone who has a stained t-shirt and pink socks. :D Thanks for your input.

I go with comfort. If I'm comfortable while I'm lifting its one less thing to worry about. Also, I avoide clothing that could be considered distracting. I figure I don't want look in a mirror while squating and see a shirt that, while funny, might cause me to laugh and bust my ass. Besides I think a little bit of class goes a long way, especially in the weight room were the testosterone level is at 110%.

And guys don't ever, ever were spandex. I don't care how big and bad you are, just don't try and float that style. Ladies, feel free to keep the spandex comming though.

You know the other day, my baby wore a pair of grey sweats with red and white strips down the sides and a green tank top, (I tried to tell him before we left he didn't match) I turned around when we were leaving and low and behold there was this lady striking up a conversation with him. I watch the women watch him all the time, doesn't matter what he is wearing. He tells he is going to the gym to workout not make a fashion statement.

I wear any brand that makes the material that nike calls dri-fit. It's expensive, but keeps looking new, plus the sweat evaporates quickly. nike or under-armour is good.

There's a guy at my gym who is a walking "faux pas". He wears (tight) short shorts, and an old sweatshirt with the arms cut off. The kicker is that the shirt is also trimmed halfway up the ribcage so that you can see his hairy pot belly straining out over the top of his tight short. Top it off with a Richard Simmons style sweat band around the head, and you get the picture! I firmly believe that there's something beautiful about every single person, but a little effort is required if others are to see it!

LOL RB! The pink socks are making me picture punky brewster for some reason.

You are gonna laugh, but to work out at home, I just leave my jammies on and put on socks and tennis shoes. LOL! I'm NOT a morning person. If I waited until I was awake enough to get dressed, it'd be time to go to work before I got the work out done.

If I'm going to the gym, I wear whatever makes me feel the most confident and comfortable.

I can't do the buff thing. Some things just should NOT bounce around! Sheesh! I don't need a black eye or anything.

ROFLMAO!!!

I didn't get up in time to work out this morning (told you I wasn't a morning person LOL), so this afternoon I will probably wear just an old pair of shorts and a tshirt. They look horrible, but man they are comfortable. ;p

Hey Gwin, what's ROFLMAO?

Come on...who else feels better wearing a tank/sleeveless shirt when they're gonna do arm work? Or if I'm going to do cable chest work I try to wear a little lower-cut tank and can see my muscle-cleave...

You know you do it...

Agreed on the no-spandex for men rule. Cyclists and tri's are exempt.

lol @ Ogun. I just like the way underarmour fits. Especially it's wicking ability so the sweat doesn't seem to stick to you. Great clothing. As for you Bettia, naaaaaaaaaaaaaa(sticks tongue out). lol

I have one of the sleeveless Nike DriFits to carivan; nice fabric for staying cool...I haven't tried anything form-fitting before. I think these are primarily designed to go under other clothing but they do have street gear and loose gear...I know I perform a little better and can go longer when I'm cooler though, but isn't there something great about having sweat rolling off of you?
