I'm 5'4" , 162 (last, unfortunate weigh in). My BMI is at 22....so that says I'm normal (?) but I do have pounds to lose. I LOVE cardio, not so into weights, but can go there if it will do the trick. Would like to lose 15 pounds of fat as a bonus ('cause I know that's where my extra poundage is). Will the right weight routine really help? I have plenty of time....just want to do it right. Can anyone help? Diet tips too, keep in mind, I eat anything and everything....which is why I need to STAY in the gym ALWAYS......
Thanks, Yall!

Hi, there, brewctred! Welcome to FT! I really must say that weight training can make a world of difference to losing weight. If you love cardio, you could do that 2-3 times a week and do weights 3 times possibly. It is so nice to know that by implementing a weight training program your muscles are gaining in mass and thus burning more calories 24/7! I love that! Cardio is great, but doesn't have the same affect, rather burns while your doing it a bit longer. I think if you add weight training you will see results, check out the exercise program here at FT and try that! Most important, as with any exercise program and trying to lose weight - you have to watch the food going in as so much of it just wants to stick around preventing you from losing. Try more protein with the weight training and try eating "good" carbs for burning, the nutritional section here is wonderful, too. You know that there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, so you have to see where to cut back, you can't eat 3500 calories in a day and burn only 2000 or you will gain, of course, so I'd try to keep a journal to get an idea what you are actually eating in a day/week. Good luck to you!
