There`s tons of stretching exercises.....
1.push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, squats with out weights, different combinations. 2.If it`s not to cold you can jog, walk. 3.When used to be heavy into martial arts, I used to spend my free time practicing punches and kicks at home. |

Thank you. I can handle the push ups, sit ups, and jumping jacks, but I dont know any styles of squats.
I would walk or jog, but it is really cold here at the moment. I also have pretty bad asthma. Do you know which exercise usully works best on losing weight on your stomach and hip areas? -------------- ~ In Memory Of ~ * Destiny Eve * Miscarried On October 18th 2003. My two cents....
The stomach area is trained in the kitchen! Review your diet and that should help you a great deal. Also don't despair I think we all do battle with the belly, it's not an easy thing to lose. If you are achieving the weight loss and still need excersizes there is a special 12 week Abdominal program that you could adopt on the excersize resource section. In some instances it calls for particular machines, you could improvise using basic furniture found at home with a bit of imagination. Good luck. BTW. Your footnote / epitah really hit a chord & made me feel really sad. |

There's a machine at the gym I love to use, it's the inner/outer thigh worker, it's a wonder. Unfortunately, the gyms that are by my house are ridiculously expensive, so I haven't joined. I used a beach ball, blew it up, set it between my knees (you can do this lying down or sitting) and did holding presses (that means press your legs towards each other and then hold for any period of time, and do reps that way). You can vary the air pressure inside the ball just like you can vary weights on the machine. If you want to be really hardcore, you can get a basketball or a soccer ball, but they are smaller and a little bit more difficult to use than a beach ball. That will do your inner thigh. Then to do your outer thigh, lay down on your side and do side leg-raises (i don't know technical names for these exercizes, sorry). Jump rope will elongate and trim up chubby or bulky calves. The neat thing is that you don't even have to buy a rope, you just have to do the jumping action. For your stomach, lay down on your back, and put your arms backwards, holding on to something (i borrow my sister's ankles or a leg of my bed). Holding on, lift both legs together straight to a 90 degree angle (easiest), and smaller angles for an even more challenging workout. This excercize will pulverize your stomach, I guarantee it.

Use cans and stuff Alicia. Everyone has food in their house. Use cans to use like free weights, use your broom stick to sit down and do bends or stand up and twist, put your foot up on the bathroom counter and stretch your legs.
I guess what I'm saying is anywhere any time is a gym. So, just use your imagination. Now I just have to take my own advice. ;) hehehehehe I've read some stuff in different magazines ... Some of them were: You should try to keep your dining area blue and purple for dishes, table cloths, etc if you can. Turn soft classical music on while you're eating and no tv during eating. ONLY eat at the dining table. Never by the couch or tv or anywhere else. Keep the kitchen light on at all times. You'll want to snack more if your lights are dim. Put a mirror beside your refrigerator and always look in it before you eat. Never have mirrors in your work-out area. It'll make you tired faster. Try to make your work out area reds, greens and yellows, 'cause they are colors that make you happy. Find a specific spot in your house or the porch or drive-way or anything and sweep it every day. Vacuum your house every day. Washing bath tubs, mopping floors, etc. is great exercise! There are tons of different things you can do. I think the hardest thing about exercise isn't money to get passes for fitness centers, going to gyms, having fancy equipment or anything else. It's motivation!!!!! And boy is that word a big pain in the butt! LOL ;) I wish you luck ... now wish me luck! teehee! Oh and another thing ... you were talking about weight on the mid-section. I'll tell you what's always worked the best for me. IF I can make myself get back on track for doing this. At night right before I went to bed I would stand at the end of the bed and do squats. I'd do enough to where my legs hurt and then I'd do 5 more. Then I'd go to bed. It wasn't more than like maybe 5 minutes or so a night of work but it sure helped me lose weight on my hips, thighs, stomach etc. I really need to start doing that again. hehe ;) |

You know, I love to wear bright colors when I workout. I did learn in a class about red, yellow, and green. I never connected it though.

hehehe yup ... now you know. ;) I kinda thought Prevention magazine was for old people hehe but it has tons of useful information in it. Like the blues and purples making you not as hungry, etc. Stuff like that.
I also read in that same magazine that the water bottles everyone is re-using including myself, aren't safe to re-use. They have done tests on them and when re-used and refrigerated they have a chemical that comes out of the plastic into the water and it's not good for you. That's always good to know. I use the same water bottle all the time for working out. hehe It did say, however if you were going to reuse them just make sure to wash it with warm soapy water and let it dry before reusing it. |

For weights, use 1 gallon milk/water jugs. You can fill them up to whatever weight you want (maybe add a cup of water each workout to make it more?) :-)-------------- ~~~~~~~ROXIE~~~~~~~ http://www.mycoffeegirl.com |
