Hey all...I have many concerns about my wife and maybe you ladies can give me some advise to help her.

I'll start out by saying that she's got a new diet plan (so to speak) and a size 2 jean hangs on her and she needs a belt. Pretty much for the last 6 months or so she's had serious stomach issues (cramping and "the runs"). They can't seem to find the cause of it (scoped both ends and no problems found). On days where here stomach is sour she probably takes in less then 500 calories (I know, very bad). Otherdays when she feels good she'll eat everything in site. We've come to the determination that it's stress from her job and she's trying to find a new one. My major concern is she's doing permanent damage to her body and possibly created an eating disorder. So even when she does find another job she's still going to create problems (i.e. overeating which would then cause more stomach problems)

Have any of you ladies experienced this and can give me any advise to help her. Not that she'll listen to me...she never does until someone else confirms what I say. However maybe I'll just show her your responses and get her to realize some of what I've been telling her as well as ways to help her.

Oh and I figured my bf% last night on www.mybodycomp.com and she's agreed to let me do her measurements tonight. So I'll post it for you later to see how sickly skinny she has become and I might add she's giving birth to 2 children in the last 8 years as well.

While many women would kill for a size 0 after 2 children...I'm really concerned for her and need to help her quick, before a strong wind comes along and blows her away.

She definitely needs to see a doctor about possible eating disorders....stress or not....it really looks like she has some sort...Anorexia Nervosa....Bulimia......

It's horrible when you fluctuates her caloric intake so drastically....she's not getting the required nutrients her body needs, losing her muscle, ...and setting up herself for many other problems....

Has she been checked for crohn's disease? My daughter has this and it can be very difficult to diagnos. Normally there is a family history of it but not in my daughters case. They say that is very unusual.

According to that link an upper and lower GI would determine if she had Crohn's and both of those have been done. So I assume they checked for it. I'll talk to her about it later. I don't believe she knowingly has an eating disorder, however I do believe she has created one with her eating habits.

The reason I'm pretty convinced it's stress is because she took 2 weeks hiatus from work about a month back and didn't have any problems the entire time.

I don't know...I know she's sick of going to the Dr's about it cause nothing they give her helps. She's taking Zoloft (I believe) for stress, but it doesn't appear to be working either (only been 2 weeks since she started taking it). However the majority of the problem seems to happen in the morning...NO SHE'S NOT PREGNANT. Occassionally it gets better throughout the day, but sometimes it doesn't though.

She's got a couple of interviews lined up. After she gets a new job I'm going to watch her eating habits very closely, because I do believe that's going to be a critical time as well. Guess I'm concerned that when she picks up eating more again she's could bring on more problems then she had before...mainly with what she eats.

Oh...I will say that I got her taking a multi-vitamin now. So hopefully that helps out a bit.

Stress does amazing things to the body and mind. When I am extremely stressed I can't keep anything down and have severe headaches.
Thank goodness for weightlifting, it is the most relaxing thing for me to do. Some days I wish I could do it 4x's per day:big_smile:

I wish I would have known all the great benefits sooner.

I've tried to get her into the gym with me...but with the kids and schedules it's not possible for both of us to go at the same time and she doesn't have the motivation to go herself. I think she believes she's too skinny as it is and she thinks that if she goes to the gym she'll lose more weight...I've tried to tell her she can do weights and cardio and get lean mass. However like I said she never listens to me.

Well at 114 lbs and 5'3" I have actually gained 1 lb since starting FT but I lost 1" in my waist and hips.

I hope that means I might have gained some muscle and not fat. I was following the weight watchers diet program where you count points rather than calories. Now I am not saying anything bad about WW as I lost all my weight using their guidelines, but....
After using the FT nutrition guide I found I wasn't even close to eating the amount I should have been. So I am currently trying to increase my caloric intake eating a clean diet.
But anyway, I got off topic. Tell your wife to start lifting weights they are a great way to relax and she can gain weight while lifting as long as she eats correctly.

There is a weightlifting program on here to use that says something like with out losing weight. That might be a good program for her to try.
Anyone with more experience please give your input.

why dont u buy her some weights to use at home?? SInce she cant make it to the gym with you. And that way she can do it maybe while u watch the kids.. kinda let her have some time to herself and relax while she does some lifting weights or exercises, since u feel part of her problems are because of stress that might help her get her mind off of things... I have found the 45 mins to an hr that i do my workouts or walking, whichever maybe the case for the day is so relaxing even with my kids with me, cause they tend to copy me and act like they r exercising as well it is quit cute.... But that is just an idea.. :)

Les...I think you outweight my wife by 10-15 lbs and she's 5'4".

I might be getting an exercise bike at the house soon (a friend might give us one). So maybe I'll go check out some dumbells for her as well. I have no issue watching the kids and stuff...I usually cook and this and that after I'm home anyways while she goes upstairs and surfs the net or watches TV after she gets home. So if she has any interest in lifting weights, she's already got the free time to herself.

We got for walks every once in a while, but sometimes she just looks at me like I'm crazy cause we did it yesterday or something.
