I weigh 142 and i am 6'. i need to eat 3,000 calories and cant get past 1,800. i want to gain muscle mass but not fat, i work out 6 days a week, same with running. I usually burn off more than i eat by far, like today almost 5 hours of walking 4 miles of running and an hour of weight lifting, followed by 30 min of abs, and 20 mins of streaching, which leaves me hangin with an exercise burn of about 6,000 calories. please help, what to do what to do. And im afraid this is low, i wish this was way high but even my dad agrees with me. so depressing**sigh**

E-gads, Gats!
Sounds to me like you're going overboard -- at least a bit, maybe. In my humble opinion, I think you need to cut down on the cardio, and cut down on the lifting. With all that activity, I'd bet you are always going to be at or close to a calorie deficit. Although everyone's body type is different, I believe that with that calorie deficit, you'll lose weight or maintain weight (at best).
I think the grass is always greener, though, if ya know what I mean! However, I can sympathize - although I'm at the other end of the spectrum. For me, I need to workout alot and do what seems like more-than-my-share of cardio just to keep up with my appetite (and metabolism). I have a 21-year old who is in the same boat as you (and GoldenGloves). I tell him to eat and he tells me not to!
Have you tried eating smaller, but more frequent meals in order to reach your calorie target? Have you tried adding essential oils (like flax or even olive oil) to your diet? Can you add protien shakes (with flax oil) in between your regular meals? Have you tried increasing your carbs a bit?
Maybe for a month or so, you might want to try hitting your cardio plan only 2-3 times per week. Same for the weight training. Then just see how your body responds. By reducing your quantity and frequency of workouts and cardio, your automatically gaining calories (and if your nutrition is sound and your workouts are intense, that translates into muscle gains). And in your spare time, kick back and relax (save your calories (energy) to rebuild your muscles). I think your workout sessions will become more intense (because you'll look forward to them even more). This might be the change that you need.
Hope that helps!

yeah i have 12% fat and dont want to gain fat but want to gain musle**darn love handles** well yesterday i had about 3,200 calories but even still an hour after my third serving of dinner i was hungry again, and i had big servings. my dad said the only thing he can think of is to eat junk food but that will make it to hard to lose my love hanles where most of my fat is stored. i mean at school it is hard to eat 6 meals real meals between, classes without having to gorge myself all i can get is an apple or somthing small. i mean i still get 200g of protein same with carbs. i cant stop cardio because i have started track season and need to train, thank goodness i only do my job ** where i got most of the 5 hours of walking in** on saturdays. so is there any thing you can think of.
