Hi all. I'm a new member to FT. About 4yrs ago I took off 125lbs, which was not to hard its the getting in good physical condition thats hard. I'v been workingout 5 times a week for the last 3 1/2 yrs. However I can't seem to lose this last 20 or so lbs. I am 45 now and have always except for the last 4 yrs. Am I just to old to get rid of the last of this wieght? I work 60 hrs a week at the gym 10 hrs a week and eat anywhere from 2000 to 3000 cal a day. So you can see I have a very slow metabolism. I do cardio 4 times a week in my workout but it has not real increased my metabolism very much. Is there anything I can do to increase it? Thanks all

Try browsing some of the posts on the site and you might be amazed at the insight you'll get. Your age isn't a factor in most cases and when it gets right down to it, you can't beat gravity but you can defer it some. :) Your metabolism is not necessarily what you're stuck with. Your workout numbers are probably ok but only you know the intensity you're using. In fact you might find that cutting back on time but increasing intensity might be enough to get you past your plateau. Your calorie count might be ok but if you're eating that 3000 calories at a couple of settings, that might be part of the problem. There are several ways to jump start your metabolism but you'll need to post some more specific info about eating habits and specific workouts and someone will come along with some more help.

welcome warren! do a lot of walking, that is great for a slow metabolism as well as mixing that with weight training. Another good way is the HIIT Cardio, where you do 20 minutes of random speeds or intervals, this help boosts your metabolism and burn fat all day.

good luck!
