Diet is a good start, but you really need to get moving... if it's walking, that's good.. that can graduate to jogging... cardio is a necessary evil and resistance training is great too...
I felt the same way this morning when the alarm went off at 5:40... I just wanted to stay in bed, but I remembered why I was doing this... to get healthy, look and feel good and stay in shape for my family. You CAN do it... t -------------- Tim "I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self." Aristotle |

the differnce between those who are in shape and those who want to be in shape, is that the ones who are in shape push themselves everyday regardless of if they want to or not.

Try walking more in your daily life. When I wasn't into going to the gym (I didn't like sweating and exercising), I tried to walk to the grocery store instead of taking my car. 15 min walk one way, and about 30 min in the market shopping. And since I only bought what I can carry in my backpack, I went almost every day. And watch what you eat during the day, try to count calories if you can. I lost about 15 lbs in 2 months this way. At the time I went from 145lb to 130lb and I am 5'5".
Unfortunately I stopped doing even walking due to job and school, and gained back 8 lbs during the next year. Exercising is will power. And once you make it your habit, you will enjoy it like I do. Now I like going to the gym, sweating and feeling sore. Sounds strange but it happens. :) |

I think motivation is a big part of getting fit.You have to find a way to push your own buttons.Whether it's a pair of jeans that you want to fit into or you just don't like the way you look in the mirror.Focus on what you want to achieve and get busy doing it.Getting fit isn't easy or everyone would have a six-pack.

These are all true, I sometimes lose my focus and my intervention is that I want to be healthy especially for my family. I have a busy schedule, but like with anything, if you want it you have to go for it. You will find lots of motivation and inspiration on this site. Fill out your profile and let FT help guide you on your way.
Welcome and good luck. -------------- Sean... strive for excellence |

I found a picture of me a few years earlier when I was heavier and I stuck it to the front of my fridge so now that I lost some weight and on those days that I dont feel like going to the gym I look at that picture and I see how far I have come since then and somehow that motivates me to get my behind to the gym............remember it didnt pack on over night so it wont come off overnight.....hang in there and start off light dont over do it or you will never go back.......being in shape jsut makes you feel good because you know you are taking care of your body and doing something good for it.....chin up grasshopper........-------------- you can lead the horse to the water but you can't make them drink..... ~lynnoakdale |

When we look at things we want, they fall into two categories.. things we have control over and things we don't. How you look and feel is within our control to a great extent, and what a disservice we do to ourselves by not making that bit of effort!!
Even if you start out just once or twice a week taking a nice long walk.. or get a yoga or fitness video to do a few nights at home. Set a date and a time, and follow through, and you will be so Proud of yourself for accomplishing it, you'll want that 'feel-good' rush again. Try different types of exercise to see what you enjoy (yes, you will Enjoy it!). Before you know it you'll find a routine that works for you and start seeing the results you've always wanted. It's chemical.. once you start, you'll want to do more and what a wonderful addiction!! -------------- : ] ~Danielle Firm Butt Thin Thighs Flat Abs - repeat this mantra as needed whenever an unhealthy urge arises. |

This web site is a great place to find support and motivation. (As you have probably already figured out.) The rest is up to you. We'll all be here for you and we can suffer our aches an pains together. Just start slow, a little walking maybe and then work your way up. It doesn't happen over night, but it DOES happen. If getting in shape was easy, everybody would be in shape. And if I see one more "30 day's or your money back commercial" I'm gonna break a blood vessle. Oh, well, I won't start to rant now. Good luck and keep us posted.-------------- Happy trails, Mike Young Said the Buddist monk to the hot dog vendor, \"Make me one with everything.\" |
