Hello,
I am new to this site,
I am 21 years old, a mother to a 2 year old and a 3 month old, I am 5'7, weigh 315lbs and wear a size 20 jeans lol.
I have been big all my life, even when I wore a size 14 juniors I still weighted 250lbs.
I have tried every diet that I can think of, joined other groups, took diet pills, went to the gym everyday for 6 months and only put on MORE weight.
I have a knee and hip problem from hurting them years ago and the weight only makes them worse so I am trying to slim down mainly for that reason, and to be able to play more with my kids.
I am just hoping to find some other people that are kinda in the same boat and would like to talk about how things are going.
I am sorry this is so long lol, just wanted to get it all out there.
But thank you for taking the time to read this,
Take Care,
Sharon-Lynn

Hi Sharon! First off, welcome aboard and don't hesitate to bring your questions with you.
I myself was pretty heavy at one time and had my share of aches and pains.
The best piece of advice I can give you that in order to get anything out of fitness, your diet needs to be the #1 priority. I'm not talking 1000 calories a day(you could easily lose weight eating 2000 a day), but a whole dietary change and sensible amount of calories per day. It's the hardest thing to do, but makes the biggest impact on your health. Honestly I wish I'd been more on the ball with diet because I'd have gotten to my current state MUCH faster.
As far as physical activity goes, anything physical burns calories. So even just starting off with walks is a good thing. As you progress, start getting some strength training in and your results will be even better.
You have your whole life ahead of you and it's time for you to chose a better path. Not only for yourself, but your kids too!

Hey Sharon,
There's not much I can really say that returnofplex didn't already cover. Diet is SOOOO important, I used to wrestle so i do understand how hard it can be to cut the things you love out of your diet or even if you are eating healthy to know when enough is enough. It is so easy to over-eat, even when it is healthy. I mainly wanted to comment to wish you luck I hope the best for you. You say your also doing this for your kids and i find that real admirable, I bet your kids would LOVE to be able to play with you more too.
Good Luck!!
and if you ever want to talk feel free!

Welcome to freetrainers Sharon, We are all here to help you.
An easy way to start off is by adding some fiber into your diet, say at breakfast, a high fiber cereal( switch to a lower fat milk if you didn't already). This will keep you full longer, and get rid of bad cholesteral that could be building up.
Good luck reaching your goals.
