Well, I think the best piece of advice is to "go for it"; don't think twice about being new, everyone's got to start somewhere. Follow your program and you'll be getting there, with a lot of work. And don't forget to have fun when you're doing it!

Thanks Lecter...i also have Power 90 which has resistance "training" on it i could do at home...and cardio at the gym. Would that work do you think?

I'm afraid that I don't what a power 90 is. Free weights are the best though, I've read that machines can be good for beginers to help them develop their form but weights are the best for stability muscles. I know that I suffer from not being able to go to a gym, but I'm building a weight room and will buy a few more things in Sept. Right now I have a barbell, dumbbells, a rack and a bike as well as a bench. I'm making ok gains with my program...

Power 90 is a program where it has two sections (cardio and sculpt). And in the sculpting one Tony (the instructor) divides the workout in three sections. For example
Section 1 has push ups, "heavy pants", curls, kickbacks, squats, lunges, and swimmers press and military press...and some others. And its all those workouts in three sections. I use resistance bands, but u can use dumbbells too. I hate the cardio DVD bc its boring and a pain in the ass. I just got back from the gym and i feel like a lost sheep or something...i used to have a trainer but im only 18 and a scrub so i dont have a job (lol), and i dont want my parents to pay 50 bucks a session. But my trainer i did have wasnt very good, he didnt educate me on weight lifting...so yeah. Thats my predicament. Lol.

All I can say is to do the following: Follow your FT program, eat well (very important, try the FT nutrition page) and get your z's!!
Like anything new, it may feel weird in the beginning but it will feel fine down the road.
When you do have questions, use the "Fitbuddy" search at the bottom of the page for answers; if you need more help, post it on the right forum. You have all you need right here on your favorite web workout wonder: FT!:dumbbell:

nate don't forget when you are at the gym and you are not sure if you are doing the exercise right or not. Don't be afraid to ask someone for assistance, preferably a personal trainer. Everyone has been where you are, even those nice big muscle men. and you'd be suprised how helpful people are. Good luck.

Nate - a lot of folks are insecure when they first start out. If you just joined a gym the chances are that a trainer is part of the price for at least the first few sessions. Even if it isn't, it's worth the price to learn how to do the exercises the right way. Don't be intimidated because once you become used to your routine you won't see anyone else that's in the gym unless it's one of those tight bodied women in tights that comes in every day to let everyone pay homage. :)
