I've finally decided to start following the diet that FT suggests for me. It says I need
Protein -225 g
Carbohydrates -525 g
Fats -104 g
Total Calories -3750

Now can anyone help me interpret what this actually means in food. How many meals? What kinds of food? How much of each food?

I am 18 years old, weigh about 150 lbs, and I am 6'2". I weigh train 3-4 days a week and run almost everyday(weather permitting). I take calcium tablets and Centrum everyday. I have an Ensure for breakfast every morning, but thats the only constant thing in my diet.

Thanks

Take a look in the "Starting over again" thread at the top of theprevious page. There is an on going menu of ideas a few of us on here have been posting.
Also take a look at "Grocery list for a bodybuilder" loaded with healthy food choices.
You want to keep your metabolism steady through out your day, and do this by eating every 2-2.5 hrs. Just like our mothers fed us when we were infants.
You should be eating 5-6 times a day to get your required calories.

After eating things full of protein from morning to sleep I still only consumed about 130 grams. How am I supposed to consume anywhere near 225g?

It's not as hard as you think to get 200 grams or more of protien. Check the sticky thread in this section for Body Builders Grocery List.

Just try and get 30 or 40 grams of protien per meal, spread across 6 meals a day. Eggs, tuna, cottage cheese, chicken are all excellent sources of protien. If you have the money Whey protien is an easy and great tasting way of getting additional protien.

Maybe you could give us an example of what you typically eat during the day.

Part of the reason you’re not getting enough protein is your generally not eating enough. Are you trying to build muscle or lose fat? What are you goals?

Drop the three servings of total protein (maybe just have one) and cook yourself some eggs in the morning. I am not sure the nutritional value of Ensure, but personally I never trust a meal in a can. You can never go wrong with rolled oats either.

School shouldn't get in your way of eating; I managed to do it while I was in college so high school shouldn't be a problem. Just bring quick snacks. Tupperware is your friend! Have a cup of cottage cheese in-between breakfast and lunch. Hard boil a dozen more eggs at the beginning of the week and bring a couple of them with you a day for snacks.

You definitely need more veggies. Buy yourself frozen mixed vegetables and cook them with your dinner.

I found the whey isolate, which is a bit more expensive, a lot better then the other type of whey(which name eludes me). I used American Nutrition and have been very happy with it, though the banana flavoured one leaves much to be desired (nothing a scoop of peanut butter doesn't fix though).

I haven't tried many brands, but from what I have tried I learned one thing: You get what you pay for. Generally the cheaper brands are lower quality, tough to mix and not as good tasting.

I went to Sam's Club and they didnt have any protein powders so I decided to try PowerBar Protein Plus bars. They say they have 24g of protein per bar.The chocolate peanut butter ones taste pretty horrible, but I dont eat food for taste. Once i get powder I will only be using the bars when I need to. I'll probably get some powder next week when I have money.

Some of the protien bars can be pretty nasty tasting. Make sure to read the ingredients/nutritional info on the bars as a lot of them can be loaded with refined sugars (thats not to say all of them are like that though).
