Umm, okay. The whole bulking up thing, a myth. females have to train extremely hard to add muscle, unless they are on 'megavitamins' (steroids).
When people train with weights and they think they are bulking up, it is usually because they have not changed their diet and are getting firm and toned under the layer of fat on their body.
Weight lifting has many many benefits, other than muscle building. it helps prevent osteoporosis, it increases your metabolism, it makes you more able to lead an independent lifestyle, longer. It does so many thing sfor you that other forms of exercise don't, there is no sane reason not to weight train.
Lunges, squats and stairmaster will all firm and tone your butt and thighs.
Cleaning up your diet will get rid of the fat over the muscles.
Doind cardio will burn off the fat if you create the right caloric deficit.
Look through the posts here and you will see that here is no such thing as spot-reducing. It is a total body thing, you can't target one area to lose fat from, and no one exercise will make one spot reduce faster. If that was true I would have the leanest, most muscual jaws ever from chewing gum all of the time (instead of just a nagging headache).
Try to think of obtaining a healthier lifestyle, in all aspects and you will find that your butt and thighs get more toned as you get stronger and have more energy and fell better about yourself.
Good luck!
