Hello all,
My name is Amy. I'm 30 and looking to get back in condition after a year of letting it go. I am the right weight for my height but I've got excess fat that I want to replace with muscle. My husband is nearing 40 and is close to 300 lbs. He's also determined to get fit with me. Is there anyone else here getting fit with a spouse? I think there are challenges and benefits we face that singles don't when it comes to maintaining a health regimen. I'd love to chat if anyone can relate:).
I find whenever my hubby eats well I am more strict...it makes it easier...Afterall eating is often social so if he's having something I will too...WE love working out together...fortunately I am quite strong so he likes me spotting when he works out (whole good trust issue) I believe it bonds couples closely to workout together and spend some enjoyable time with each other...very motivating....many people freakout about the whole idea...but try it sometime and you may find if you do things together you will grow closer :)
My hubby just started coming to the gym when I go at lunch. I wouldn't say we workout together, but he's been motivated to join me because he knows I'm going to be there. While there, he does his thing, I do mine. Like lonegirl says, it makes things much easier diet and exercise wise, when your both motivated. Even though we aren't working out "together" I enjoy seeing him there and I know I'm motivating him to be there. We do other activities together like Fencing and Golf, but I still find I prefer to workout at my own pace with my MP3 as my company.
