I am 30 years old from Canada. I got married 3 years ago and before I got married I was around 8% body fat than I let myself go. When I got married I weighed 220lbs than I balooned to 250lbs I started working out once again in Febuary of this year and I am now at 238lbs but I have hit a plateau so I am hoping this new workout provided by this site helps me get back to the single digit body fat percentage. I have to stick to a solid diet which I think is my biggest drawback with having kids in my house and all the snacks that are around its hard to fight temptation. Any parents out their that have experienced this please help me...Thanks Bryan

Welcome to FT Bryan!
You're kidding, right? Let's see, for the youngest one it's Frosted Flakes, Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies, PBJ, and Dorrito's. For the middle one, it's pizza, Code Red Mountain Dew, Dorrito's, and anything that isn't moving or made of wood. For the oldest, it's Red Bull, Pop Tarts, and any pasta product and ice cream. I spend most of my time twitching in a corner, eating wild rice and chicken and lighting candles in homage to the weight loss fairies. When I finally can't handle it anymore, I freak out and eat something bad for me, like a handful of those chocolate kisses with caramel in the middle. The children gasp in horror that I'm eating their stuff and then I get back to the business of being thinner and threaten never to buy those things again. Until the next time I go to the store. So, yes, I have experienced that. -------------- Anni ******* Hard work must have killed somebody |

Welcome Bryan!
It actually helps me to tell myself that it's my kids snacks and I would be taking away from them if I eat it, in fact I did this just the other day with a left over corn muffin, my yougest loves them so I "saved" it for her. Also out of sight is out of mind. Another thing, I try to buy my kids the stuff I don't care for. Lastly, plain old will power ; ) Good luck! ============ Quoting from bbronswyk2000: I am 30 years old from Canada. Before I got married and I was living on my own I was fine I only bought the stuff I nwe was good for me and for a snack I would have tortilla chips and salsa since both were not to fatening and still satisfied my need for snacks. Now my wife does the shopping and my will power is not the same as it once was. I hope that I can gain more will power in time maybe just take it slowly rather than rushing into it or I may just get withdrawls. Do you guys have suggestions for some low fat snacks that can substitute for those craving of sugar and fat?
Cheers Bryan ============ Quoting from Damselfly: Welcome Bryan! Fat free sugar free JELLO topped with fat free sugar free cool whip is a whopping 20 cals and you get a lot of JELLO in one serving. Either that or some fat free sugar free pudding topped with the same thing, 65 cals . Really hits the spot! I even go so far as to eat the pudding grainy by putting a scoop of protein powder in mine just to make it more healthy ; )
I don't get fat cravings anymore since I started using UDO's oil. Before I started using it I would crave peanut butter like crazy! ============ Quoting from bbronswyk2000: Do you guys have suggestions for some low fat snacks that can substitute for those craving of sugar and fat? Hello and welcome to FT! For years I have been doing the same thing, shopping for everyone else and being upset because "I" didn't have anything good to eat so I "had" to eat what was there. Well, I ended all that! I asked myself how my children were to learn good habits when I was stuffing their faces with Little Debbies, pizza's, pizza rolls, pop and a lot of other junk foods (though I did cook good meals, too). The answer was simple - I needed to make a change for everyone - why would I want to continue to sugar feed my kids so they could some day go through weight problems and fight cravings for high bad carbs like I had? Nope - I shop for "everyone" now - I find foods that we can all eat, if I give them snacks, I find delicious recipes that they will enjoy but are better for them and to me, even if now and then some I make are a bit higher in sugar/fat, they are still made homemade vs. all the preservatives. And like Damselfly said, I use sugar free jello and puddings now and then, too. I stock the house with fruit, whole wheat breads, oatmeal, chicken, steaks, veggies, etc. I give the kids some choices when I go shopping and they pick what they would like. They love it when we sit down and make some creative salads, or a favorite night for them is slicing up a lot of fruit and low fat yogurt and we dip the fruit in the yogurt. You would be amazed at the "good" foods kids really like when you are creative!
It is working GREAT and I am teaching them to eat right so they are healthy because there is nothing more important to me than my children and I want them to not face consequences later in life. We do order an occassional pizza or Subway, etc. but I think they are really enjoying eating right, too! Hope that helps, I would wonder sometimes what my kids were thinking when I was eating my "good for me foods" at one end of the table and serving them fat laden foods at the other - I don't want them to think I need to eat right and they don't! It is a process, you don't want to throw it on them all at once if you try to make a "family" change and they will still want some chips and pop now and then, but for the most part, kids will look for you to feed them what they need and with a little creative thinking and some ingenuity you can do it, for yourself - and for those you love! -------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan.
