Hi everyone.I would love to loose about 40lbs.I was a skinny girl all my life until I hit 35 yrs old.Well, to say the least at 164lbs I am fat! I carry most all this weight in my stomach.I am now on high blood pressure meds, its making me sick (the weight).I have never dieted, believe me I use to want to gain weight so bad, as skinny gal.Now I face a new world of trying to loose. Can anyone give me ideas, what truly works?? No I dont exercise at all, but I would like to.My doctor wants my blood pressure to come down before I do any kind of high stress exercises.I need help, I hate the way I look and feel.

Welcome to FT! This is a great site for help and motivation...

First off, I would suggest getting your diet in order. You can follow the nutritional plan set up by FT... just put in what you eat to make sure you are more or less on target with your goals.

Secondly, don't call it 'dieting.' It's a lifestyle change... dieting has all the negative connotations whereas 'lifestyle change' doesn't seem to.

Follow what your doctor says... when he/she says it's good to hit the weights, set up a plan on FT and you're on your way!

Follow Tim's advice. Start off with light cardio at around 50% of your max HR, and weight training. I guarantee with in 6 months you will be off your BP meds. Remember to tell your Dr what you are doing. Good luck.
